'Bloodbath': New Zealand voters decisively go conservative 'You have reached for hope and you have voted for change'

The voters of New Zealand spurned the liberal Labour Party in Saturday’s national elections, knocking them into the minority and electing a conservative coalition led by the National Party.

The center-right National Party earned about 40% of the vote, while Labour managed to win just over 25% of the vote, a sharp decline from the 50% share it earned in the last election prior to former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s abrupt resignation from her post, according to the AP. Labour had been in power for six consecutive years, but voters rejected the party at the polls after it pushed stringent COVID-19 lockdown policies, vaccine mandates and presided over a high-inflation economy as well as a wave of criminality in the island nation. “You have reached for hope and you have voted for change,” Prime Minister-elect Christopher Luxon said to a raucous crowd of supporters in Auckland, according to the AP. Luxon, a former businessman and corporate executive, would likely join his National Party in a coalition with the libertarian ACT party, which took home about 10% of the vote, according to The New York Times.

The vote totals have not yet been finalized, but Labour has conceded defeat in the election, according to the AP.

David Farrar, an experienced conservative polling expert, described his immediate reaction to the voting trends seen throughout the country as a “bloodbath” for the country’s left, according to the AP. The New York Times described Luxon’s incoming government as New Zealand’s “most conservative government in decades.”

Luxon campaigned on getting the country “back on track,” according to the AP, and has promised to deliver tax cuts for middle-class earners and to clean up the country’s crime problem, according to The New York Times.

A “conservtive” in NZ is at best a moderate Democrat.

Ditto for Australia. A moderate Democrat or a RINO squish. Every last one of them thinks of Trump as Hitler.

Ahern overplayed COVID as she took shutting down everybody way too personally, then turned out to be as fragile as she had signaled all along (pathetic frightened atheist). This is all just blowback.

Of course, a moderate Demonrat is a Marxist. It’s incredible how some overwhelmingly White nations (and states) are so politically and culturally suicidal. Red China is gonna go through Oz and Kiwi-land like crap through a goose.

They all told everyone to get COVID shots including Christopher Luxon of the National Party.

Luxon’s third party “Conservative” partner David Seymour actually said “Don’t be a *ickhead get vaxxed”.

Seymour also wants to expand the criteria for Kiwis to be eligible for MAD.

Medically Assisted Death

They just wear higher quality suits and their pants are professionally creased.

“...Bloodbath...”

If only this were true and all those Marxist scumbags were executed. Alas, the New Zealanders (just like American Jews) will once again allow the Marxist to take power in another year or two. They never learn.

Sounds like Canadian “conservatives”.

Watch them do nothing to reverse Ahern gun control as well.

And eventually us, too... if we don’t make a quick turn around.

Yup. What I was thinking. Especially if “social services” are cut back. “We didn’t know how good we had it!”. 🤔

The center-right National Party

If NZ is anything like the USA, “center-right” actually means “center-left”.

Newly elected NZ Prime Minister on the issues:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Luxon

Luxon is an evangelical Christian who is recognised as a social conservative. In his maiden parliamentary speech, Luxon defined himself as centre-right. Luxon supports low taxes, making cuts to the Ministry of Social Development, establishing military-style boot camps for young offenders, and introducing stringent anti-gang legislation, and is strongly opposed to welfare dependency and co-governance with Māori.

Despite announcing National will not contest the Abortion Legislation Act 2020, Luxon is opposed to abortion and has compared it to murder.

In November 2019, Luxon said he was against abortion, euthanasia, and legalising recreational cannabis, though at the same time he supported medicinal cannabis. He also at the time supported a “no jab, no pay” policy for sanctioning welfare beneficiaries who do not vaccinate their children.

however, following his election as leader, Luxon said he did not support cutting the benefit of parents who do not vaccinate their children against COVID-19.

Luxon has also firmly stood against efforts to reform New Zealand’s water system and advocated against affirmative action for Māori and co-governance, which has led to allegations of race-baiting.

In response to the October 2023 Gaza−Israel conflict, Luxon stated that he was shocked and saddened by Hamas’s overnight attacks against Israel. Luxon condemned Hamas’ attacks and stated that Israel had a right to defend itself.

In mid-June 2022, Luxon announced that the National Party if elected into government would introduce several pieces of anti-gang legislation based on Australian anti-gang legislation. These “zero tolerance” policies have included banning gang insignia in public spaces and social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, and giving the Police special powers to disperse gang gatherings, and prevent certain gang members from associating with each other or obtaining firearms. Luxon unveiled National’s new law and order policies in the midst of rising gang activity and gang warfare in 2022.

Luxon believes there is no need for laws specifying which toilets transgender people can use.

Thanks for your perspective, Tenessee Nana. I don’t understand why some don’t accept the NZ election as good news. Not that some utopia has arrived (leave that to the left) but that it is a good development that maybe can be expanded.

Some conservatives really have adopted a mentality of losing. From Trump telling Republicans to not vote in races that determined who controlled the Senate to American conservatives cursing the fact that conservatives and moderates voted out the radical leftist government in New Zealand - it’s all negativity, conspiracy theories and condemning anyone who isn’t perfect. Never accepting any good thing that can maybe be built on - just gripe that everything was not delivered all at once on a silver platter.

We have gone from Ronald Reagan’s “If you vote with me 80% of the time we are friends and we can work on a lot of things together” to the self-destructive but ego-stoking antics of Matt Gaetz. We might be in the wilderness for a long time.

What leftist crap that Ahern did will be reversed by this new government ?

Name one thing so we can follow what happens to the issue.

The function of “conservatives” is to conserve leftist gains.

That, and to act as gatekeepers and containment structures for more effective forces on the right who micht actually do something.
