Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s announcement Monday to run for president as an Independent complicates the presidential race, with early surveys showing him tying up the race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
A Fox News poll from Wednesday found that in a three-way race between Trump, who is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, Biden and Kennedy, Biden and Trump tie at 41 percent and Kennedy sucks up 16 percent of the vote.
A Zogby survey conducted for the pro-Kennedy PAC American Values 2024 had similar findings, with Trump and Biden tied at 38 percent and with Kennedy garnering 19 percent of the vote.
What's interesting is that when a generic independent candidate was polled against Trump and Biden, Trump actually won that race 40 percent to Biden's 38 percent, but when Kennedy - a prominent anti-vaxxer - was specifically asked about, he pulled support away from the Republican ex-president...
Additionally, the numbers shake out differently in the Fox poll.
In that survey, Biden was one point ahead of Trump if just the two of them were on the ballot - with 49 percent for Biden and 48 percent for Trump.
When Kennedy was added, Biden lost that edge and he and Trump tied.
But a two or three-way general election isn't likely, because academic Cornel West has already entered the fray and will likely appear as the Green Party's candidate on the 2024 general election ballot...
Fox found that independents were more likely to go for Kennedy, 41 percent, than West, 28 percent - and that was detrimental to Trump, who performs 9 percent better among independents against West than when Kennedy is in the picture.

I am pretty good at separating what I emotionally want from what I objectively analyze in politics.
As, I personally love Trump and have supported him from before he announced and I totally disagree with the RFK Jr. policies and appeal but see that many voters will find him appealing. And many voters illogically desperately just want someone new-—which is how conmen take advantage of people. His voice is bad and he hesitates as he speaks and isn’t handsome. But is new.
Even if RFK Jr. deflated only a percentage of Trump support in a state, like the Perot effect it could mean loss to the Dem nominee (whomever it is). Even the Libertarian 1-4% could ruin a 50-50 tossup state for him.
Democrats who want to vote with trump will vote for RFK instead. Wha?
No.
How do we know he divorced from the Dems. And he still agrees with them 99.9% of the time?
Is he officially running as an indepent, or is that speculation?
I don't see anywhere he actually claimed that. Do you have one?
I am not sure who RFK is “dazzlingly attractive to” and his vocal problem make him excruciating to listen to. I don't buy any poll that says that he will suck more votes from Trump than Biden. He is a one trick pony who speaks the truth about the vaxes. Trump made a huge mistake trusting Fauci and company and letting them fast track the most harmful “vaccines” in history. But President Trumps other attributes make him the only serious candidate in the race.
The issue isn’t traditional Trump supporters switching to Kennedy. It’s left-leaning independents and democrats who voted for Biden in 2020, but are now fed up with him, switching to Kennedy instead of switching to Trump.
It had nothing to do with him being the "weaker" candidate. If that was true, he would have lost anyway.
It was that Perot won in demographics far more likely to vote Republican. Perot probably won a lot of voters who would have voted for either major candidate, or wouldn't have voted at all. But he also had a lot of white voters, who were going to vote for Bush. I don't think, for example, he had a huge amount of minority support.
Yes.
That was Clinton's big selling point in 1992. He described himself as "a change agent."
After 12 years of Republicans, many independent and moderate Americans wanted "a change," if only for the sake of change.
Ain’t no one voting for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s.
He drove his wife to suicide. His voice alone would keep people away.
Some might think Harris has some ‘cards’ at the table if Biden isn’t around, but you look for enthusiasm among Democrats about her, and it’s worse than Joe Biden.
Every time, she does some interview, I have this odd feeling she smoked a joint or two prior to the interview.
All this is meaningless since Biden won’t be the candidate. The dems will make sure of that. It will be either Hair Gel Boy (Slick Willy redux) or Big Mike (vote for me ‘cause I’m black).
Nope. 2020 Biden voters are 2024 Biden voters. They despise Trump.
No thinking person would ever vote for that guy despite a couple of insightful positions he holds. Hence he will get demorats and goofballs. Biden’s base.
I dont care what this poll says, not ONE Trump voter will flip to Kennedy.
What most matters is RFK’s effect in those handful of swing states that the Dems are gonna have to work overtime to steal.
Have to agree. Glad he shone a light on vaccine stuff and Fauci, but I dont trust him as a politician.
