I thought Scalise was elected speaker yesterday. What did I miss?
In conference he got the most votes, but shy of the 217 needed. It has apparently become clear he couldn’t get there, so he has dropped out. Jordan had less, but apparently folks think he might pick up the holdouts. Republicans are pre-picking the winner in private before doing a formal House vote to try and avoid another McCarthy-like debacle.

The only problem with Jordan being speaker is that I believe he would have to give up his committee assignments.
He didnt have the votes, he had 210 he needed 217
Steve got more votes because he is the Gope donor class
candidate, or Rino.
Just shows even with DJT polling about 70 percent of
the base, the Donor class is tone deaf to what the base
wants, and so the base will not vote and America loses.
I am sick of these GOPe non Representative congressmen.

Jordan would be giving up his chairmanships in order to approve subpoenas and fast-track investigations.
