UAW Strike: 34K Auto Workers Now on Picket Line While Few Americans Back General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis
Breitbart ^ | 10/12/2023 | John Binder

The United Auto Workers (UAW) strike has expanded again with roughly 34,000 American auto workers now striking across the United States while few Americans, a poll finds, back General Motors (GM), Ford, and Stellantis in the conflict.

Late Wednesday evening, 8,700 UAW members at Ford’s Kentucky truck plant in Louisville walked off the job and joined 25,300 other UAW members who have been on strike for nearly a month now.

“We have been crystal clear, and we have waited long enough, but Ford has not gotten the message,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement. “It’s time for a fair contract at Ford and the rest of the Big Three. If they can’t understand that after four weeks, the 8,700 workers shutting down this extremely profitable plant will help them understand it.” [Emphasis added]

What’s surprising is how little people care about strikes. They used to be big deals.

Instead of Americans kissing the union thugs’ asses, they should stop buying cars from union manufacturers. Screw the commie bass turd unions. Cars are already way overpriced. Now, the unions want to charge Americans even more for the crap they’re putting out. WAKE UP AMERICA! GEEZ.

New cars are ridiculously expensive and it will get worst if the UAW gets everything they want.

Having said that the UAW President Shawn Fain pegs my Marxist Radar gun. Slimy.

Amazingly, to me, there are more workers in the unions in UPS than in the auto industry. Dodging that strike meant more to the re-election economy for Biden.

Shawn Fain is a Marxist make no mistake. The UAW wants a 46% raise and a 32 hour week with 40 hour pay. Between that and physics defying CAFE standards it’s going to end up costing $100,000 for a Ford Focus.

My new 2024 Honda CRV cost 34k, traded in 2 older CRVs to get the price down to 13k, it’s gas, but loaded…I hope it’s the last car I ever have to buy

Agreed. The UAW demands are just ridiculous. A full weeks pay for only 4 ish days of work.

I do not support Ukraine or Russia - they are both corrupt and fighting over a piece of land the US should have no interest in and it is not worth a single dollar.

I do not support the UAW or the Auto Companies - they are both corrupt. The UAW are rat supporters, communists, hate America. The auto companies are rat supporters, communists, hate America and colluding with the government to restrict our freedom of movement.

In some fights, there are good guys vs bad guys. However, many times it is bad guys vs bad guys which are the two cases I mentioned.

UAW is the primary reason I don’t buy American made automobiles.

They predominantly give money to entities that wish me ill at best, and death at worst.

The crazy thing is that none of these automakers are even in the top three worldwide car makers. You’d have to go back a few decades to see GM, Ford, and Chrysler as being the largest auto makers in the world.

So, I won’t comment on the UAW or the strike, but ya gotta ask yourself, “What the heck happened?” How did the big three get their clocks cleaned by, essentially, foreign upstarts? IMO, the single biggest reason US automakers are no longer the “big three” is because their quality went from bad to horrible. People just got fed up with shoddy products and being financially responsible for the worn-out inferior product that they were forced to maintain until they could afford to replace it.

Fain looked like a total moron in his tee shirt that said “Eat The Rich.”

I worked 15 years in that industry before retiring. UAW members are among the most useless, dishonest, even hateful people I’ve ever known in my life. Not that GM middle management was much better. They deserve each other, IMHO. I drive a Honda, and if you gave me a GM car for free, I would burn it.

We might be in the last days of Ford, Chevy and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep.

Nobody can afford them anyway.

Fear not. There are STILL eight manufacturers of cars and trucks in America not built by the dinosaur unions.

There are plenty of non-union jobs for autoworkers in America.
