- as WFH ticks up amid high rents and rampant crime LinkedIn has put up the top five floors of its 26-story building for rental till December 2027 Companies such as Airbnb , Paypal , Slack, Lyft and Salesforce have left tens of thousands of square footage buildings in the city in the past year Remote work is increasingly popular amid crime and homelessness in the city
A major reason is the rise in crime and homelessness in the city which has forced major retail stores such as Target, CVS and Crate and Barrel to leave ground.
Fashion store Express also announced its plans to vacate its 301 Geary Street location today.
Reports of homeless pirates marauding onto houseboats in the San Francisco Bay are also incoming. Residents along the Oakland-Alameda estuary told a community meeting last week that boats have been cut loose so that they drift out to sea.
One woman even recounted how she had rescued another resident on a sailboat in the middle of the night after pirates slashed his rigging lines during an argument.
The brazen thieves - whose homeless encampments have spilled out of the city - are taking small motor-powered dinghies and using them in smash-and-grab raids on larger vessels and houseboats.
LinkedIn is all set to become the latest company to lease out the top floors of its glass-wrapped San Francisco skyscraper to the public.
Meta announced it was ready to abandon its 435,000 square feet San Francisco building once its lease expired in 2031.
Companies such as Airbnb, Paypal, Slack, Lyft and Salesforce have left tens of thousands of square footage buildings in the city in the past year.

“Prepare To Repel Boarders!”
It took New York decades, and tons of redevelopment, to come back from the 1970s. Unfortunately for San Fran, this is the year 2023 and a ton of big money has already been spent and decided to leave. There is zero incentive to come in and pay 14% state income tax just to live in a craphole city with nice buildings.
I'll bet that the illegal aliens and "homeless" will enjoy the comforts.
(No sane company would locate there.)
I think red States should deny them entry and force these liberals to live in the crap they made.
Who in the hell was stupid enough to lease the top 5 floors???
Someone trying to get away from the ground floors??
Alcatraz might become the safest place in SF.
Maybe Linked In can rent the space to Brandon Johnson, the Mayor of Chicago, who is trying to find space in that city to house the “flood” of illegals who are waiting for the Mayor to provide free housing so they have someplace to squat.
I would not be surprised if MSFT is moving the Linked In executives to Redmond, WA.
MSFT is completely rebuilding the original MSFT campus.
Why are they leaving the liberal utopia they voted for?
highly misleading article: linkedin has not actually leased out their top five floors, but have put them on market to TRY to lease them to some other company ... Rots of Ruck ...

*SLOW CLAP*
If only!
Escape to Alcatraz.
Seems to be a building leased from Tishman Speyer.
