Your comment that Israel is “entitled” to a response is patronizing at the very least, especially since you doubled down on that by implying Israel should be measured in its response. Crushing Hamas and Gaza is warranted; any half-measures would be a victory for Hamas.

I was responding because some on the left have been saying they are not entitled to a big response. I assume you could agree with that. After what I saw the last few days I am certainly crying no tears for people getting retribution for horrible barbaric acts like that. It is coming and it is just.

And the reason I was challenging that was because of your comment on another post that when claims of harm to children are made those claims should be viewed with suspicion.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
That was the plan when Israel handed Gaza over in a "land for peace" deal in 2005. Agriculture, including extensive greenhouses for the production of export quality produce. An international airport had been begun, hotels built and planned, a port with a marina for private yacht traffic. It wasn't totally finished, but a path forward that lead to real prosperity was in place. That, obviously, wasn't the direction that the people living in Gaza chose.
I don't know whose fault that is, but I'm pretty sure that Gaza, at this point, is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better at all.
