A U.S. fighter jet shot down a Turkish drone armed with air-to-surface missiles that was flying extensively in the area of U.S. ground troops in northeast Syria on Thursday, according to a U.S. official.

An F-16 shot the drone down after a dozen unheeded calls to Turkish military officials stating American forces were in the area and the U.S. would engage in self-defense if it didn't leave, according to the official.

The shootdown of the Turkish drone comes days after Turkey conducted retaliatory airstrikes in northern Iraq against locations related to the outlawed Kurdish Workers Party (PKK), the militant Kurdish group that claimed responsibility for recent bomb attacks in Ankara.

As I keep sayin’, the business of America has become war. How many wars are we currently engaged in? Has there ever been a time we were not involved in a war or some deadly conflict?

More stupidity from the Globohomo Empire.

Now they are shooting down the drones of a supposed NATO “ally” in that ally’s back yard, where the ally has legitimate security concerns with a bordering country in chaos with terrorist enclaves etc.

The USA has troops on the ground and aircraft there exactly why ?

Why do we have troops in Syria? Did I miss a war declaration or something?

Don't know if this is related but:

Syria war: Drone attack on military academy kills 100, monitor says

Ten civilians were among those who died when drones carrying explosives targeted a graduation ceremony attended by cadets’ families, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The army blamed “terrorist groups backed by known international forces”.

To protect our allies the Kurds from our allies the Turks? It was ostensibly to defeat ISIS.

The last American President ordered troops out of Syria, but his generals refused to obey the order.

Yeah, they did make sure to specify Article 5 can’t be invoked when 2 NATO members go at each other.

As I keep sayin’, the business of America has become war.

As I recall the U.S. has about 750 overseas bases in 80 countries. This is rarely, if ever, discussed in Washington. Why do we need that many facilities, what are they used for, and what is it costing us?
