Matt Gaetz burns down the Republican House

If you’re kicking yourself for missing the historic moment of a House speaker’s ouster Tuesday because you had to work or get your kids from school, relax: We watched, and all it boiled down to was hot air — sound and fury, signifying nothing except cynical nihilism and likely weeks of chaotic paralysis.

Oh, Rep. Matt Gaetz and his fellow rebels talked plenty about high principle and the crisis of the Republic, but all they were really doing was burning down the House, or at least the House Republican majority.

Professed conservative hardliner Gaetz got the chaos he wanted, ironically thanks to the unanimous support of House Democrats, who joined the tiny GOP Suicide Squad...

Dems, of course, are reveling in the dysfunctional circus — and will presumably try to spin it out for as long as possible...

No one knows what comes next: The rebels have no candidate for speaker, let alone a plan for keeping the party’s most moderate members from turning to the Democrats in desperation for a return to regular order.

Gaetz and his allies didn’t take a bold stand for anything but self-indulgent nihilism — they were mad at how things have been going, so they blew everything up.

The reality remains that the Dems control the White House and the Senate, so the Republicans in Congress are unable to get much done, let alone realize the demands knocking about in Gaetz’s wildest dreams.

This arson no doubt feels good, like you’ve at last done something — just like punching a wall.

Then your hand starts to hurt and you realize that that’s all you’ve achieved...

Also up in the air: What Republican would even want the speaker’s job, so long as it means being held hostage by Gaetz and his crew?

A chance to get a speaker who will work for Americans and the Republican platform rather than for his/her own enrichment and business as usual.

NO, that is what has been held up as the truth, by RINO Republicans for eons.

The desperate move by the eight Representatives using the only available means of eliminating one of their problems will certainly be seen as a dangerous even desperate move.

They certainly were counting on the democrats doing what they do so well. Sticking together despite the “story” that Nancy would save Keven. That would have involved only a token few votes, but they didn’t or couldn’t do it. They stuck to their guns, and Matt and the seven got a win.

What comes now may see some success or utter failure but at least the attempt has been made to turn the rudderless House in a better direction.

Andy Biggs my kind of Representative. Who do I have? Crusty Dusty Johnson a RINO’s RINO working across the aisle. What better opportunity to work with the dems than this one?

Hail to the brave seven. Even Mark Levin could only see evil in the hearts of the eight.

NOW, there is no candidate for speaker. Because the job description just changed. From lap dog to guard dog. But never fear, a few more people will join the cause, and one will do a gut check and apply for the new position. And soon, too. Many will want to be a part of the new reform movement.

“And you are the one who decides what is RINO and/or Conservative behavior.”

Why, yes; yes I am. You did not know that?

If Gowdy hates this, and Newt hates this, and the GOPe hates this, I am 100% on board.

If the house can’t figure out a way to shut down this border thru the power of the purse, then they are worthless imho.

And that’s just table stakes.

Listen to Biggs 7 minute floor speech, that tells me all I need to know.

**Why is it Chaos? The Speaker of the House has changed many times ...

And as for paralyzing the legislature, well that is good isn’t it? Hard to write bad laws when things are on hold.**

Rep. Matt Gaetz
@RepMattGaetz

I don’t think voting against @SpeakerMcCarthy is chaos.

I think $33 Trillion in debt is chaos.

I think not passing single-subject spending bills is chaos.

I think being governed by continuing resolutions and omnibus bills is chaos.

Chaos is somebody we cannot trust with their word.

That’s why I’ve moved to vacate the chair.

Net result? A Democrat majority in the House. If not soon, certainly after 2024.

In the meantime, the RINO purge will continue. With luck, we’ll have a country left once we’re done with the purification in a few years.

So you are in agreement with AOC, The Squad and 202 lefty Dems congressman who voted McCarthy out out, 95% of all Dem congressman voted with these 8 . And what is the first priority McHenry does Ukraine? Budget, no kicking Nancy out of an office. This this high school amateur hour. We just played right into the lefty hands and will now lose the House and Presidency because the Dems will play this as the “do nothing” congress. I campaigned and donated $s for Trump in 2016 and 2020, and will vote for him but will save my $s and time. We lose and some conservatives think this is a win for MAGA-Trump gets it is not -just read his statements

I hope there may be some benefit to this move, but the outlook is grim, or worse.

Yes! The suicide attacks have become popular with Putin; why not give it a try?

A prolonged stalemate before Speaker Hakeem Sekou Jeffries takes the gavel. Such a deal.
It gets worse!
BidenII, soon followed by President Kamala Harris.

And Biden’s favorite Republican will wash his hands blaming still more RINOs.

I was wondering why he would do that. But I think it might be that the physical office might be reserved for sitting members who were Speaker. Kind of a Speaker Emeritus office. Since McCarthy is the most recent Speaker (and a member of the majority) he would have priority over this privilege.

I am guessing…but that is the only reason I can think of.

A chance, you say?

I have a chance to win a Powerball Jackpot!
At this point that is more likely than any gains for conservatives.

Name-calling shows a lack of value in your position and more... (Or would that be less?)

McCarthy was a weak leader. He’d rather cut deals with the Dems than his own Party members. When you bring your bills to a floor vote and can’t pass them...you’re not doing your job. See you later, Kev.

Best point made.
Thanks
