Now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was stripped of his gavel on Tuesday afternoon via roll-call vote on Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-FL) motion to vacate the chair, pursuant to rules agreed to by McCarthy in order to clinch victory in his drawn-out race to become speaker in January.
By a vote of 216 to 210, the historic motion prevailed as presiding Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR) declared "the resolution is adopted...the office of Speaker of the House of the United States House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant."
The Republicans joining Gaetz in his motion to vacate were Reps. Biggs (AZ), Buck (CO), Burchett (TN), Crane (AZ), Good (VA), Mace (SC), Rosendale (MT

Your logic makes sense but doesn’t take in to account their voters seeing them voting for a Republican.
That’s a lie. I never endorsed him, and I’ve criticized many times. But I will give him credit when he does something good, just like I will with Trump.
If McCarthy made a secret deal with Biden to keep money flowing to the proxy war in Ukraine, he deserved to be kicked to the curb.
“”””In Gaetz’s district, this probably helps him because it’s a very conservative red area, if Gaetz is going to run for governor, he can’t rely on just his congressional district, that’s where his problems will be.””””
Gaetz CAN rely upon Conservative Voters that are dominant in Florida.

Draft Trump as Speaker. Dump McConnell and McDaniel.
He could have easily won the E. Jean Carrol case, but he and his lawyer acted incompetently. They basically acted like they wanted to lose that case.
Then why did this pass with 209 Demcorats and 7 Republicans voting for it?
As evil as the Dems are they are good at politics. What is their end game here? As useful as McCarthy has been to them, why do they seem to think his removal is good for them?
Trump is so bad at choosing people for government positions that people choosing the opposite would be a win.
Yes. These are not good times.
Newt was our Rep and we liked him alot. We like our current Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene alot too. Here she is demonstrating how easy it is to pull the fire alarm in the Capitol: https://dailycaller.com/2023/10/02/marjorie-taylor-greene-fire-alarm-jamaal-bowman-delayed-vote/
These are political prosecutions, and the normal legal rules and strategies don’t apply
I thought I was the only person who noticed that.
Name one.
There was no way that Trump could have behaved that would have prevented this miscarriage of justice with a judge ready to completely set aside the rule of law.
No evidence, no date, no witness and the jury decided that Trump was guilty but not eb=ven of the charge. The law was changed specifically to allow this action outside of any statute of limitations. But if Trump acted “right” it would have gone away. Pull the other one it has bells on.
Ok but they could of taken 4 dark dark blue districts that are never going to do anything but vote Dem and kept him in the job.
I trying to see this from the Dems angle. I guess maybe it is just chaos for chaos sake.
Going to be interesting watching what happens next.
He can sure rely on this Florida coupls!
Thank you!
I agree.
If the RINOs go Dem in their vote, maybe more will start to wake up.
