35,000 Morons: The Taylor Swift Problem
PJ Media ^ | 10/03/2023 | Christopher Skeet

Posted on 10/03/2023 10:10:35 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

There was a recent article from Newsweek that caught my eye. Entitled “Why Republicans’ War Against Taylor Swift Could Backfire,” it delves into an X (formerly Twitter) spat between The Federalist’s Sean Davis and left-wing activist Victor Shi. In response to an excellent piece by Mark Hemingway detailing the shallowness and vapidity, both technically and spiritually, of Swift’s music, Davis quipped, “Taylor Swift is dumb and her music sucks.” In response, Shi wrote, “Nothing says more about how little Republicans understand Gen Z than them now saying Taylor Swift is “dumb & her music sucks” after she registered more than 35,000 people to vote last week. If you attack Taylor Swift, you also attack Gen Z. Good luck, Republicans. You’re screwed.”

Sadly, they’re both right.

Taylor Swift is indeed dumb, and her music is beyond insufferable. As for her politics, they are a jumbled mess of tired cliches and contradictions. She remained amiably silent about her personal politics until 2018, when she succumbed to the woke mob and started parroting their platitudes. But she owes her astonishing success to the fact that she’s smarter than her dupable fan base. That’s not saying much, but that’s the point.

It is easy to disregard the aforementioned Victor Shi and his sophomoric tweets. He’s a 21-year-old privileged brat whose self-assured acumen is never troubled with plagues of nuance, introspection, or humility. He’s also male, Asian, and rich, and he’s operating under pure delusion if he thinks he’ll get a chair when the intersectional music stops. But even when he’s wrong, he’s always right. About everything. All the time. It would be a mistake to dismiss not so much Shi but the mindset by which he is driven. He categorically represents Gen Z, and Gen Z is the future.

Shi is correct in that criticisms of Taylor Swift, no matter their validity, are a mouse compared to the calamitous elephant of her influence over Gen Z. She just got 35,000 of her fans to register to vote, most of whom will vote for whoever she tells them to, without question. How many people did Republicans register to vote during the same time frame? What’s our strategy? Cross our fingers and hope those 35,000 new voters don’t live in Arizona or Michigan?

What guys listen to her music?

This is just a continuation of women voters (not all, mind you, but enough of them) screwing this country.

She’s not as destructive as Madonna was 40 years ago.

At least not yet.

I’ve been reading about Mark Steyn’s lawsuit with CRTV, and I’ve come to the conclusion that conservative media has no intention of advancing conservative causes, it’s all about selling subscriptions and getting clicks ( and votes) by throwing out red meat, with no plan to get anything done.

The liberal establishment is 90% graft, but they do advance their causes. Conservative media is just graft and ego, with no intention of doing anything else.

“She’s not as destructive as Madonna was 40 years ago.”

And Swift is just as smart as Shania Twain or Sheryl Crow...

If Celebs feel the need to promote their own bumper-sticker ignorance, attack the ignorance of the statement not the person. People with that lack of awarness or understanding usually parrot their misinformation.

Like so many in the last 30 years or so shes tolerable on mute.

After you put a worm on a hook did you ever look at it wiggling around and think to yourself that “If I were a fish, Id bite that worm”?

Shes kind of skinny but with a spray of Wd40 I might bite her twice.

Well, last month the far left “media” were singing the praises of Tater Swuft after she took the record for registering RAT voters. Tater Swuft is why the DemocRATS are scared to death to let any NON-TURD ROLLER near the ballots as they are being counted. No telling how many Swuft fans vote for the RATS regardless of how old they are.

Swift is rapidly approaching Michael Jackson and the Beatles territory.

And that other phony "country" singer, Garth Brooks.

To this woman, I never thought for an instant that the big ol football player gave a whit about her singing.. now that is a man problem and no woman on God's green earth could have ever told him he is being dumber than a box of rocks.

I have been teaching guitar to kids for over twenty years.

When TS first came out, her songs were easy to teach and popular with my little girl students age 8-13. After that, their tastes became more sophisticated and they started demanding songs that had more than four chords.

The boys had absolutely NO use for her and her songs.

However, the Beatles, Stones, and other classic rock artists appealed to all ages and sexes, levels of musicianship, and styles of playing.

TS wore out faster than a kleenex.

Before she said anything political, they were calling her a “Nazi” because she never said anything political.

I guess she “got her mind right”.

Another clueless Repub trying to sabotage the next election. Heaven forbid they might win and have to run the govt. There is no reason to attack Swift and saying her music sucks is just idiotic. Besides it is made for young people not middle aged politicos. With allies like this we will be under the jack boot of DemocRATS for decades.

Her music sucks, but on the other hand, why even comment on it? It’s not worth it.
