I’m trying to give McCarthy the benefit of the doubt, but it’s getting next to impossible to do so at this point. The only possible good that may come from the continuing resolution is that it pushes any 2024 government shutdown fight past election day. That would be a good thing, but only if he plans to hold the line, 45 days from now. I see no indication that he intends to do that.
