We started with a paltry number of B-2’s, 132 (compare with 744 B-52s). But then ‘peace’ broke out - so, down to 75. Well, that was still too much...so down 21. Since then one crashed, so 20 today. Pretty much the same for EVERY big-ticket item we’ve built in the past 50 years.

But, yes, if we want to be a WORLD POWER, we sure as hell need to build hundreds of bombers...rather than making more excuses to not do so and then go running around the world trying to start World War 3.

Could have used the money we spent on the neocon wet dream in Ukie to pay for many of them.

How about they figure out if the thing even flies and works, if it actually has range, and if it actually can carry what’s intended.

Not having an interest in aviation I used to look forward to reading the posts from the guys who did, on threads about military aircraft.

Judging by the thread so far, those members have moved on.

How about one trillion, given the usual Pentagon cost overruns ?

Reminds me of the UK after WW1, bankrupt, losing the international currency, the world’s most expensive military, and the most Imperialistic factions in the gov’t wanted to invade Russia, invade and occupy Armenia, occupy both Iran and Iraq as well as keep going with the rest of the Empire.

Imperial delusions and over-reach.

Manned bombers seem so….1960’s

The B-21 is designed to be flown manned or unmanned, depending upon the mission. I expect unmanned operation will become more common as integration with unmanned drone swarms develops further.

....I think bought and paid for Senators and Representatives are pushing this and are motivated by bribes from across the planet. Biden’s 10,000,000.00 is just one drop in a swimming pool compared to ALL BRIBES going to legislators in Washington.

With palletized munition systems coming, China could be obliterated if we have a President with a functioning brain.

I’m all for spending money on defense rather than welfare but this hugely expensive airplane is not needed.

I’m saying they COULD, not that they should.

And there’s no substitute for deep interdiction in manned aircraft. Especially when distance exceeds 2,000 miles.

If the US can’t compete economically with China, (and it clearly can’t)military encirclement is utterly pointless.

You can read quite a bit online now on the B21.

You are correct about the thread.

In December 2022, the cost of a B-21 aircraft was estimated to be $700 million. At the time, Air Force officials estimated that they would spend at least $203 billion over 30 years to develop, purchase, and operate a fleet of 100 B-21s.

I just like to read knowledgeable posts when it comes to aviation, missiles, and ships/submarines when the threads about them are good.

I’m not sure but I think Mariner is one of those who sometimes has good comments on navy subjects and missiles that I like to read.

Since these areas don’t interest me much I like to read other’s opinions who have a keen interest in them and keep up to date about them and often experience with them.
