Respondents of the Anytime Estimate survey paid a median amount of $495,000 for their home — with almost a third paying over asking.

Meanwhile, 80% of buyers also compromised on their priorities, like finding the right location. Some bought fixer-uppers, while others made offers without even seeing the properties in person.

They can't have been living on the street before 2020-21, so why did they choose to buy a house under the circumstances? Social contagion?

People who traveled a lot for work?

When I did a lot of traveling I lived in a studio apartment. It was smaller then the hotel rooms the company would put me up in. It was, to put it mildly, very basic because I was only there about six nights a month.

If I was forced to be there for months at a time never going out I could see getting a bit stir crazy.
