Pope Francis appoints 21 new cardinals, embracing diversity and reform

...

Throughout his papacy, Francis has sought to create a more inclusive, universal Church, looking past Europe to clergy in Africa, Asia and Latin America to fill the Church's highest ranks.

With his latest roster of cardinals, Francis has again looked to the world's "peripheries" -- where Catholicism is growing -- while breaking with the practice of promoting archbishops of large, powerful dioceses.

"He is looking for cardinals who correspond to the times. These are people who have all taken a step away from the Church of the past, who positively ensure a break," an informed observer of the Holy See who asked to remain nameless told AFP ahead of the ceremony.

The array of cardinals represent "a richness and a variety of experience, and that's what the Church is all about," the Archbishop of Cape Town, Stephen Brislin, told AFP Thursday before his elevation to cardinal.

There are three new cardinals from South America, including two Argentinians, and three from Africa, with the promotion of the archbishops of Juba in South Sudan, Tabora in Tanzania, and Cape Town's Brislin.

Asia is represented by the Bishop of Penang in Malaysia and the Bishop of Hong Kong, Stephen Chow, who is seen as playing a key role in seeking to improve tense relations between the Vatican and Beijing.

Is that really “what the Church is all about?”

Asia, Africa and Latin America should have cardinals. With rapid travel and communication it would be silly not to have them.

You’ll likely find more orthodoxy among bishops from.those lands than you will in North America and Europe. That doesn’t mean Francis will elevate the orthodox of course.

Things like this happen when you have a dictator-run church and a woke priest manuvers himself into office. What he
says goes.

a dictator-run church

Except that quasi-democratic churches, like the Episcopalians, have already gone there. And very-democratic groups, like the successors of the Puritans in New England (primarily the UCC), went there decades ago.

Thst should cement in the “fundamental transformation” of the church that he started.

Another huge conservative institution taken over by the left.

Gramsci’s plan is working like a dream.

Diversity is the recognition of differences, not similarities. God already knew them. And I don’t think God cares who is a follower of peace and worship by any differences. Just by similarities of love and worship. But then again God is who God is and not trying to be one like our earth bound religious crusading egotists.

Only one archbishop from Africa (south africa). Most bishops from Africa are conservative i think, so no surprise that he did not draw from that well.

Methodists also. Except when they don’t like how the vote goes (such as being outvoted by the African methodists) they do what they want anyway.

Somehow, I do not believe that this is what JESUS CHRIST wanted when he was not only here on earth; but also, when he assented back to heaven to sit at his FATHER’S RIGHT HAND.

The church is trying to be popular in a world being run by Satan. It will fail, and worst of all, it will fail G-d and His word.

So not Catholics.
