Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign confirmed to The Daily Signal on Wednesday evening that he will support 15-week protections for the unborn.

In audio of the debate following DeSantis’ response to an abortion question, candidate Sen. Tim Scott can be heard asking DeSantis if he would support legislation banning abortions of babies after 15 weeks.

“Yes, I will,” DeSantis responds.

The abortion issue is won. Trump got rid of Roe v Wade, you want further abortion protections, then fight for it in your state legislature.

I agree.

I actually think Trump has the right idea on the issue. He understands that abortion is a loser for Republicans.

Now, if Trump wins the presidency and the GOP keeps the House and takes back the Senate, what should Trump do if congress puts a nationwide 15 week abortion ban on his desk? Sign it or veto it?

Not true. It is at the State level and in some states it is not legal. Hearts and minds can prevail.

No matter how many weeks it is legal, it would still be an abortion. That is why making federal rules is meaningless.

One reason. He doesn't have to worry about the primaries because they're pretty much over. A few months ago, I'll say Trump had 0% chance of winning the general election. Right now, I'll say 5%. If Biden continues to decline due to dementia and the border issue becomes huge, Trump may be back in the picture just like that.

Unconstitutional government comes in the guise of helping/saving but in fact when you rip the mask off unconstitutional government and you see death, destruction, and murder.

gop doesn’t have the will to do anything like pass a national law or would have done so by now.

So, back to if desantis was such an advocate of a 6 week ban, why didn’t desantis advocate for a national 6 week ban at the debate when scott asked him about abortion?

You ignore the fact that subsequent rulings meant that abortions were legal well past 12 weeks. The exceptions for mother’s health gave so much wiggle room that butchers like Cathart legally performed abortions past viability.

Pro life politicians:

Life begins at concept, 6 wee, er 15 weeks....

More unconstitutional bullshit.

The Constitution gives the feds NO AUOTHORITY in matters of health, abortion, etc.

Health, abortion, etc. are STATES’ ISSUES!! PERIOD!!

Amen, Amen, and AMEN!

I get and agree it should be a state issue. The problem is that several states have basically legalized infanticide by permitting abortion without exception well past viability. At that point I do believe the government should step in and protect the life of the unborn who could survive at birth. If a baby has personhood one minute after birth why not one minute before?

Whether extra-ordinary measures would be required for severely ill infants would be a matter for doctor and family just as it is for other end of life decisions.

Leave it to the states to make that determination.

Death, taxes and Republicans will not sign a 15 week abortion ban into law if they promise to

“We won Roe versus Wade. Everything is at the state level now. “

Yes, now we pro-lifers can sit back and relax knowing that there are numerous states that support abortion up to the moment of birth.

> The Constitution gives the feds NO AUOTHORITY in matters of health, abortion, etc.

The constitution did not prohibit slavery either, so we had to amendment it to outlaw people treating other human beings as property .

This IIS PRECISELY WHAT DESANTIS IS SUPPORTING.

Neither one is pro-life. If they were, they’d want to ban it at conception.

“Leave it to the states to make that determination.”

If one unwaveringly believes in the sanctity of life, then one should support any avenue that would protect life.

As the states do when they have laws against murder.
Murder, etc are state crimes, their detection, prosecution & punishment should remain in the hands of the individual states.

I can’t agree with that because at that point it is no longer abortion it is infanticide.
