I like the idea of non-governmental types as well but as we saw with Trump, we actually do need politicians and legislators. Look at the mix, the Republican deep bench, mostly experienced and successful governors. And not on the stage, we have many other good Republican governors.
Burgum has no chance, but just thought he did well. Also, don’t really like any Republican who’s for the Ukrainian war… That knocks out, Pence, Haley, Christie….
I like the idea of politicians having had some real life work/business experience. I also like them to have had some military experience. But even Ronald Reagan, whom I still consider the best president in modern history, had political experience as an executive after his first career and before his presidency.
To go to D.C. and think one can change the deeply ingrained power structure is naïve, especially if Congress doesn’t have enough anti-swamp legislators to overwhelm the entrenched bog monsters.
Trump accomplished more than all career presidents combined since WWII.
Career politicians only care about getting rich. They care less about Working middle class.
