Baby boomers, especially younger members, comprise a growing percentage of homeless people.
Many are struggling to keep up with skyrocketing rents while pandemic aid dwindles.
A shortage of subsidized housing is compounding the problem.
While housing costs in the US continue to skyrocket and homelessness has become a crisis, no group appears to be getting hit harder than young baby boomers.

Remember the 5 Ps.
Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
Living solely off Social Security means there wasn’t a plan.
I am a young baby boomer. Man, if you haven’t gotten your act together by the time you reach my age…just go move in with your kids.
That’s the way life was designed to work. The parents, when they become grandparents, take care of the kids during the day when the parents are in the field.
Ukraine needs more American money to build more monuments to Nazis. Too bad.
And Biden couldn’t care less.
Wonder how many in their 50s and financially hurting are suffering from the effects of drugs, divorce, illness, job or family issues. Not everybody leads a charmed life.
Article didn’t seem to mention details, of how people ended up not being able to afford a place to live , at an age when they’re approaching retirement or in retirement.
Theoretically many of these people should have family members to take them in. But they may have burned Bridges with families due to other issues , and so don’t have anywhere to go if they can’t afford the rent.
What age range are we talking about???
Boomers who paid off their homes and debt are experiencing stress from inflation but no where near as much as the folks who assumed good times would just keep rolling along.
“ Theoretically many of these people should have family members to take them in.”
Many don’t .
The left has worked to destroy the family structure

So if you are homeless, just go take all their stuff.

Hard to say. A guy I know was a pretty darn good machinist. And he had a decent amount of money socked away for retirement.
Then his factory was shut down and production was moved to China. He was around 50 at the time, and could not find comparable work. His retirement money was spent helping to keep his family afloat until his kids could finish their schooling, and get jobs of their own.
Now he depends on Social Security. I can’t say he was a foolish planner. Better to say that the country sold him out to China.
Of course everyone’s individual situation will be different from others.
As conservatives, we tend to think in terms of planning out our lives so that we can deal with life’s problems.
We have a tendency to want to save money, and want to plan for the day when we retire ,and to plan for the day when we have to adjust living expenses based on being retired.

Hence the ever expanding Amish farmhouse with the “granny quarters”
Half a century from now they’re going to look back and say “what were those selfish brats thinking, shipping their parents off to ‘nursing homes’”?
I’ve read a brain study that suggested that clans or family tribes were how we were designed to live. Our neurological pathways show that humans are most sociable and psychologically healthy when we are living in groups of around 150 people or so.
Even the youngest of boomers will be 60 within the next year or so
Living for Today, usually leads to a nasty Tomorrow.
My husband and I are in that boat.
Medical bills took us down and kept us down.
Just when we cleared it, had a few good years of enjoying life and raking in the cash, COVID jacked me up badly.
Now I’m having seizures every week and barely hanging on to my job at a time when we should be socking it away.
At least when I die, my husband gets a fat life insurance policy, no debt, and a $500K house. He won’t be living on cat food.
Freedom’s is just another word for nothing else to lose.
