Embattled Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey is expected to defiantly announce Monday that he will seek re-election — less than a week after being indicted on explosive corruption charges.

The 69-year-old Democrat issued a statement Friday, the day of his Manhattan federal indictment, insisting, “I’m not going anywhere” — despite widespread calls including from top officials in his own party to resign.

Monday’s expected press conference would be his first in-person appearance since he and his wife were charged with taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in the form of gold bars, a Mercedes-Benz convertible, cash and even exercise machines and an air purifier

Was former Republican Senator from Alaska Ted Stevens wrong for not resigning even though he was convicted of crimes as the result of Government misconduct ??

Should’ve Matt Gaetz been forced out over allegations of having sex with underage girls ??

How do you know for sure Menendez was caught red handed, unless you were one of the people who arrested him or conducted the search of his home, you only know what you’ve been told by the media.

Other than what you’ve been told about Menendez, you don’t know any more than anyone else, instead of actually putting forth real data, all you can do is respond by saying “Screw Off”.

I rest my case.

Lobby money must be thick for him to go for it.

No conscience. No shame. Sad.

I am guessing he has serious dirt on very powerful people.

He knows that the fix will kick in and he will be fine.

Menendez shouldn’t resign — for the reasons you’ve stated.

It’s DEMOCRATS who are calling for him to resign. And I suspect it’s only because they fear the impact this fiasco will have on the 2023 state legislative races in New Jersey.

Besides the fact I don’t like the idea of being forced to resign over allegations, a good political benefit to Republicans of the Democratic fighting among themselves is for him to not resign
