Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy swiped at former President Donald Trump on Thursday for failing to repeal and replace the health care overhaul championed by his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.
“I am never somebody who will make a false promise,” Ramaswamy said at an event in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. “My friend Donald Trump promised us: repeal and replace Obamacare. Eight years later, did it happen? No, it did not. It is a false promise if it is contingent on Congress.” *** It was a rare dig at Trump by Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old businessman who is a fierce defender of the former president even while running against him for the 2024 Republican nomination. Ramaswamy has referred to Trump as the best president of the 21st century and at times has drawn criticism from other campaigns for his praise of Trump. Ramaswamy hit Trump on Obamacare when asked about tax policy. He said many presidents make mistakes by focusing on legislative matters first.
At the first GOP debate, which Trump skipped, Ramaswamy vowed to pardon the former president if given the chance and called him “the best president of the 21st century.” In an interview with ABC “This Week" earlier this month, Ramaswamy said he didn't believe Trump had done anything illegal in response to questions about the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and the classified documents found at his Florida home.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Vivek is Trump’s disruptor. This is all kabuki theater. They have to make it look real.
BS. It was Paul Ryan that prevented any progress on that front.
>> Paul Ryan certainly had a hand in this!
More like both hands, both feet, and every orifice
I am tired of both parties not adhering to the NBC clause of the two highest offices of the land.
Does Vivek realize that the President can’t repeal a law that has been duly passed by Congress and signed into law by a previous pResident?
That only the Legislature can repeal such laws?
He has said his mother did not become a citizen until after he was born. His father is still not a citizen. The guy is a no for me. A huge freaking no.
It wasn’t Trump’s fault that McCain broke his word to his own voters and went back on everything he had been saying out of petty spite.
But that’s what McStain was.
I’m glad he finally cleared that up, but I’m not sure how much that matters anymore to most people.
So, both you and Vivek have no idea how a law is passed and signed into law or overturned. Good to know.
Just more exposing that the Republicans had nothing to replace it....
There was a time, other than Medicaid/Medicare, that the government had absolutely nothing to do with health care. My mom used to run an office for a small town doctor that took care of damn near everyone in town. Prior to the disaster that was brought on by the Clinton’s with their HMOs, pretty much everything was self-pay and a catastrophic care policy. Easy Peasy.
Then the Clinton’s showed up. Started doing their damage.
Then Soetero showed up and did his damage.
IMHO....still one of the best examples of how it can and should be done .... Oklahoma Doctors vs. Obamacare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uPdkhMVdMQ
Here’s a link about Ramaswamy talking about the citizenship status of his parents. I’m surprised someone hasn’t posted it as a separate thread yet.
I guess that answers that question.
“ His ability to gab is how he made his money, as opposed to Trump who actually built things, big things.”
Not true. Thanks to DeSantis campaign disinformation everybody thinks he made his money hoodwinking investors over a failed Alzheimer’s drug. He didn’t make any money off that..although he could have. His wealth comes from over half a dozen other drugs that did get FDA approval, including for prostate cancer. He did actually “build” things.
Also a life saving drug for children with a rare genetic condition
You’re going to get nitpickers saying Ramaswamy didn’t do that because he didn’t own the companies that got the drugs FDA approved. The companies involved were Roivant subsidiaries that got the drugs almost all the way to approval but were then sold to a Japanese pharm company that dragged the drugs over the finish line. Ramaswamy created enough value in the companies that they were purchased for (I think) something like 3 billion dollars.
Can't forget Chief Justice Roberts!
Interesting I will give it a watch, but it will have to be later.. Thanks 🙂
Look at Soros to see Vivek’s real self.
The war criminal McCain killed that.
Thanks.
Which drugs?
