The George W. Bush impeachment push wasn’t unreasonable

I read with absolute astonishment the Sept. 14 editorial “Republicans cheapen a vital power of the House.” The editorial stated that “some on the far left tried to impeach President George W. Bush on unreasonable grounds.” Mr. Bush misled the country about weapons of mass destruction, waged a war against a sovereign country (without U.N. approval) and caused the deaths of thousands of innocent people in the process.

If that’s an unreasonable proposition, then the criteria for impeachment need to be reevaluated.

If I remember correctly, every president since Reagan has had somebody in Congress calling for impeachment. That doesn’t mean that the whole party caucus was behind such calls.

Impeaching Bush wouldn’t have been unreasonable, but it would have looked a lot like a partisan move, as the Clinton impeachment did to many people.

The elder Bush is now answering for his crimes elsewhere,
You didn't read the disclaimer. All any sinner needs to do is ask for and receive forgiveness.
Receive forgiveness not from a higher power but just another simple human being.

I don't make the rules, you do.

Some one needs to tell the ignorant author that policy differences are not “high crimes and misdemeanors”.

And further, to claim the G.W. Bush “lied” would require that he personally knew that the intelligence analysis he was given was false.

And further yet, nothing in the U.S. Constitution or laws requires the U.S. to get U.N. approval to go to war.

What wasn’t trucked out to Syria, was flown out on Russian military transports.

There were dozens of troops injured from CW exposure after OIF kicked off.

What people don’t realize is that the 1991 Gulf War ended with a cease fire agreement. Under the agreement Iraq was required to allow unfettered access to all known and suspected chemical weapons sites. Iraq dragged their feet and obstructed access at every turn. Hostilities resumed in 2003 because Iraq was in material breech of the cease fire agreement.

“filled with WW1 era mustard”

Mustard gas was first developed during WW1, what Iraq had was a more recent vintage to include what’s called dusty mustard that’s mixed with talc or other fine powders to make it easier to defeat MOPP gear.

“15 of 19 were Saudi”

And? Doesn’t mean the government was involved.

Al Qaeda is a splinter group of the Arab Mujahedeen that was formed after Russia invaded Afghanistan. The Arab Mujahedeen was made up of Muslim volunteers from all over the world. The Taliban BTW is another splinter of the Arab Mujahedeen.

The Afghan Mujahedeen was supported by the U.S. and other Western countries. The Arab Mujahedeen was supported by the likes of Iran, Syria, Iraq, PLO, etc. Both groups spent as much time fighting each other as they did fighting the Russians.

“Sadam and his thuggish sons hated terrorists as they were threats”

Saddam provided safe haven, training, arms, and other forms of assistance to Palestinian and Arab extremists. Baghdad hosted the Abu Nidal Organization (ANO), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP). Saddam also protected the international terrorist Abu Abbas.

Saddam also created the Arab Liberation Front (ALF), and used it to pay $25,000 to the families of each Palestinian terrorist who was martyred by the IDF.

“How does the world know Ukraine really gave back its hundreds of nukes to Russia.”

Ummm because the warheads had a serial or some other tracking number on them that the Russians cross referenced and declared that all were accounted for?

EXACTLY !
I’m happy you haven’t fallen for the narrative from the left, they have brainwashed us with for so many years with the false reasons WHY we invaded Iraq in 2003.
They didn’t say the whole picture. There were MANY important reasons we went to war again in Iraq in 2003. The WMD issue is just a part of the whole problem.

Yes a serial number is 100% guarantee it will never be stolen, records forged, internals switched etc.

Why if we just put serial numbers on everything crime would cease.

So it was a slightly modified WW1 Era chemical agent mixed with talc, big deal.

It wasn’t nation destroying WMDs and Jorge said they had that level WMDs…they didn’t.

After Jorge’s disastrous destruction of Iraq, a bad but stable regime, Iraq became the birthplace of ISIS. Remember? So admit it—-Iraq became worse for terroism after Jorge destroyed the country and Obama pulled our forces out.

ISIS formed in the chaos the neo-cons created then swarmed out of Iraq and likely would have conquered most of the mid-east by now if not for Trump who worked with the Russians and destroyed them. That is what matters.

15 of 19 911 attackers were Saudi…that DOES mean something. It means it was mainly a Saudi effort not Iraqi —either supported by the government or with its tacit approval.

Jorge Bush was a neo-con deep state disaster that frittered away all of conservative power on senseless wars when we were being eaten alive from the left within. Since his time we have aged and weakened and the left just keeps getting stronger.

“So it was a slightly modified WW1 Era chemical agent mixed with talc, big deal.”

Actually it is a big deal in that it could easily defeat protective clothing. They also developed one based on VX.

“said they had that level WMDs…they didn’t.”

Yes they did, but thanks to people like you and the democrats throwing up road block after road block gave Iraq enough time to ship the bulk of their program to Syria by truck or flown out on Russian transport aircraft.

“15 of 19 911 attackers were Saudi…that DOES mean something. It means it was mainly a Saudi effort not Iraqi —either supported by the government or with its tacit approval.”

And 15 of 19 school shooters used rifles, does that make them NRA members?

Nobody said it was an Iraqi effort, but being that Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism they had a target on their back too. Iraq hosted the Abu Nidal terror organization. Iraq also hosted the international terrorist Abu Abbas. Saddam created the “Arab Liberation Front”, and through ALF gave the families of palestinian terrorists killed in action against Israel $25,000 each.

And those 15 were expelled and had their citizenship revoked by the Saudi government years before 9/11 ever happened, just like the saudis did to bin laden. If anyone of those 15 had ever set foot on Saudi soil again, they would have been rounded up and executed.

And speaking of bin laden, he wanted to use his organization to overthrow the Saudi government.

The Saudis must be doing something right because both amnesty international and human rights watch have their panties in a wad over Saudi Arabia executing terrorists.

Shrub was an idiot even though he was marginally better than what a gore presidency would have been. We should have totally crushed Afghanistan with our full military might before going after anyone else but shrub had a oooh squirrel moment. And for the record, isis came about under the mulatto muslim’s watch.

So it was a ww1 era agent mixed with BABY powder LOL. So it could penetrate some protective clothing—again big deal. You know what else could penetrate protective clothing? A rusty old AK-47 round.

My point is , unless YOU are a democrat or neo-con warmonger you don’t launch a massive military operation after lying to the American public and leading to them to believe Iraq had nukes, or bio weapons or chemical weapons capable of destroying a vast part of our country. They didn’t have that.

You won’t address the ISIS formation that was a direct result of the stupid 2nd war of Iraq by neocon Jorge. Why because it would admit the invasion created terrorism.

On your claims the 15 were expelled before the operation I have NO idea what you are talking about. I’ve just searched at least a 1/2 dozen sites and your claims are not supported in the slightest. Indeed I keep finding the opposite:

“ 15 were citizens of Saudi Arabia — and of course, Osama bin Laden was a member of one of Saudi Arabia’s wealthiest families.”

“ however, according to the BBC, the report identified Saudi Arabia as the primary funding location for Al-Qaeda,[2] and that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.[3]”

“ FBI stated that it had evidence that Saudi diplomat Fahad al-Thumairy, a Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs official and radical cleric who served at the King Fahd Mosque in Los Angeles, and Omar al-Bayoumi (OAB), a suspected Saudi government agent, had supported the 9/11 hijackers. In 2021, the FBI stated that Omar al-Bayoumi was a Saudi Arabian intelligence agent with ties to 9/11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar when they initially entered into the US. In 2022, the FBI stated that “there is a 50/50 chance al-Bayoumi had advanced knowledge the 9/11 attacks were to occur”. Al-Bayoumi also helped the hijackers find housing in San Diego. Al-Bayoumi stated that he simply befriended the hijackers and also denied being a Saudi government agent. The Saudi Arabian government also denied that Al-Bayoumi was an agent.”

Here is a list of all 15 Saudis who carried out the 911 attacks. I actually clicked on every single one and read their biographies…not a single one mentioned they were expelled previous 911. Matter of fact most were working, living , going to school, there in 1999 when they started leaving the country voluntarily to start training in terrorist camps in various countries.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijackers_in_the_September_11_attacks

Finally as far as Russians are concerned many of the Saudis in 911 actually fought against Russia in Chechnya. So it’s an odd stretch of logic Iraq was behind the 15 Saudis who fought Russia so Russia helped Iraq hide their weapons in return🤔. Most of the accusations come from a lone Rumanian former agent who lied for a living—what spies do. Officially Russia under Putin disbelieved Iraq had WMDs beyond WW1 baby powder mustard gas shells…of any nation destroying ability which is what Jorge and the neocons implied.

You are pushing the neocon cherry picked excuses they justified and were proved wrong later to invade and destroy Iraq creating 100s of thousands of needles Iraqi deaths so Black Rock and others could become rich.

About 300,000 Iraqi civilians died as a direct result of Jorge’s invasion to find non existent WMDs.—Watson Institute.
