Megyn Kelly grills Trump on COVID response: ‘You made Fauci a star’
The New York Post ^ | 09/14/2023 | Ryan King

Posted on 09/14/2023 10:28:39 AM PDT by thegagline

Journalist Megyn Kelly interrogated former President Donald Trump this week over his elevation of the controversial Dr. Anthony Fauci during the COVID-19 pandemic — noting that the 45th president formally honored Fauci before departing the White House.

“Not only did you not fire Fauci, who is loathed by many — millions of Republicans in particular, but also some Democrats — you made him a star,” Kelly said during an interview that aired on SiriusXM.

“This is the criticism of you, that you made him the face of the White House Coronavirus Task Force — he was out at every presser — that he was running herd for the administration on COVID, and that you actually gave him a presidential commendation before you left office. Wouldn’t you like a do-over on that?” she asked.

Trump denied knowing who gave Fauci a presidential commendation, which was awarded during his last full day in the White House, Jan. 19, 2021. “I overrode many of the things he did. He was much less important to me,” Trump contended. “Now, with that all being said, he’s been there for years. He was respected. He lost a lot of the respect because of COVID.” *** “I never got I think the credit that I deserved on COVID.”

Another grievance among conservatives has been the development on Trump’s watch of the COVID-19 vaccine, which has limited serious illness but has not been effective at stopping transmission of the virus.

“I never gave mandates and people have to make up their own, you know, make their own decision, as far as I’m concerned,” Trump said of the vaccines. ***

How is DeSantis doing? I heard he’s dropped to 10% in the polls.

“Trump closed the country down for 14 days”

Each state was close by its respective governor. Except SD.

Fauci was the singular world authority on th"e subject at the time."

BS. Fauci was known primarily for having royally screwed up the responsecto the AIDS epidemic and was prla little bio-bureaucrat working on his grant writing grift. He was a well-known admirer of Hillary Clinton and he definitely did not have to be named head of the Coronavirus Task Force. It was Trump that elevated him to that position and it was Trump that trotted him out for every one of those stupid coronavirus briefings

"Fauci is just another name on the long, long list of destructive, agenda-driven people that Trump allowed in positions of power in his administration, to all of our detriment."

I get a chuckle whenever I hear Forever Trumpers say we must support Trump because only he can "burn it all down" when it comes to the administrative state and its minions.

The deep state never had it as good as they did under Donald Trump. They are doing just great.

The only thing Trump burned was his own supporters

No, Trump won’t be the 2024 Republican POTUS nominee, much less president again.

The public knows how he handed this country over to Fauci who decimated us physically and economically, and then not only refused to fire him, he HONORED him with a presidential commendation January 19, 2021, a fact Trump conveniently said he doesn’t remember.

Foolishness, Trump already has the nomination and will win just as he did in 2016 and 2020. You never Trumpers are all the same, losers.

I'm not a big fan of Megyn Kelly but she's 💯 right on this.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Fauci owned Trump.

Your hindsight BS is just that, BS. You nor anyone else could have accomplished what Trump did for covid. The docs said they needed ventilators and PPE. Trump got something as complicated as ventilators built by the thousands and all the PPE needed in record time. No one else could have accomplished that. Then they needed the path cleared for a vax, Trump got that done to. You desanctomonious losers blaming Trump using hindsight is a dishonest move. It was not Trump that forced you to get the vax, nor did he close the beaches, schools and businesses in Florida, that was all desanctomonious’s doing.

I guess many have forgotten Fauci’s massive influence with media? Trump could not say anything without Fauci disagreeing, smirking or appearing on CNN with indirect contemptuous remarks aimed at Trump.

So what was trump supposed to do? Fire Fauci and reap the whirlwind?

So what was trump supposed to do?

1) not repeatedly elevating Fauci by sharing the podium with him
2) not award Fauci a Presidential Commendation
3) not repeatedly bragging about shutting America down
https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1645539542567632900/video/1

4) not championing the idiocy of two weeks to flatten the curve
5) failing to recognize that Fauci was a tool of big pharma has history has evidenced with Fauci being against utilizing Bactrim as a PCP (pneumonia) prophylaxis during the AIDS crisis which resulted in the deaths of thousands. Instead, Fauci, led by greed, and kept looking for a big money vaccine.
6) Knowing that mankind has never developed a safe and effective vaccine against a coronavirus- any coronavirus.
7) pushing masking even though cloth masks do not stop the spread of viral respiratory illnesses
8) Not increasing the national debt by trillions by giving government handouts and forgivable loans

To me, it felt like Trump didn't do his homework on Dr. Fauci.

Trump was great on the "big picture". But he had to study personnel and apparently he didn't do that on the people who were serving in his administration.

I knew by December 2019… and so did every honest person with basic immunology. Trump is stating he saved 100s of millions around the world by forcing us to mask, social distance…. No toilet paper or basic household goods for a virus that nearly everyone survived.. unless they went on a ventilator.
People died alone in homes and hospitals because of Donald trump.
Those families and those who died in that manner deserve the truth.
I printed the EUAs shortly after he signed blank checks for big pharma.
The restrictions on DUA are specific.
So either he had cause, or he just abused power plain and simple.
All he has to do is come clean.

The Balfour Declaration??

What does England recognizing a Jewish homeland have to do with Sweden’s approach to Covid?

Most of what you are anxious to hang around Trumps neck doesn’t belong there. I am in Mi where the rats exploited it as much as possible as did the rest of the rat states. You have conveniently forgotten the rats and MSM were pressing relentlessly for Trump to declare an all encompassing national shutdown and when he refused the rats did it on the state level. The horrific results are what you describe

Well, that “personality” of Donald Trump advance conservatism like no other Republican it’s ever been in office, because he was and is a fighter, unlike the wimps we got now.

You can call it a “cult” all you want, we call it loving a man who helped preserve this Republic.

All he has to do is blame this all on Pence. Pence was in charge of the committe that elevated Fauci.
