During an interview airing on CBS Evening News, Florida’s Governor was blunt about former President Donald Trump’s chances — or lack thereof — of winning the presidency if convicted in any of his upcoming trials.
“I think the chance of getting elected President after being convicted of a felony is as close to zero as you can get,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“I didn’t think even before all this, that the former President should have run again. I mean, I think that there’s too many voters (for whom) he’s a deal breaker for them,” DeSantis told Norah O’Donnell.
The comments are the latest example of a Governor who has become more confident in making the case that Trump should not have run for another term given his various legal problems.
“Well, look, I never thought he should run to begin with, even before all these legal cases when he left office in January of 2021,” DeSantis said in August on Boston’s WBZ NewsRadio.
“I think he did a lot of good things, and I give him credit for that,” DeSantis added. “But I never thought it was a good idea for him to run again, because, one, I think we need a candidate who’s going to be able to win a clear-cut victory; two, we need a candidate that’s actually going to be able to deliver on all the things that we’ve been talking about, (and) that requires focus and discipline.”
>>”Sorry but your inability to distinguish between an establishment stooge like Lindsay Graham & an actual verifiable conservative like Rand Paul, or Ron DeSantis is probably the thing I have the least respect.”
That’s funny because the thing I have no respect for is someone who is as easily fooled as you are. DeSantis’s career path follows the well worn path that Establishment posers have been following for years.
If you haven’t picked up on the patterns and are unable to recognize the signs of an establishment con-man, then you’re just one more obstacle that needs to be sidestepped if we’re ever going to take back our government from the corrupt network that currently controls it.
"instead of by a backstabbing opportunist who pretends to be on our side, like under-10% Ronnie."
Who here believes Trump will lose the PRIMARY?
No of course the better idea is yours. Call everybody who doesn’t want your primary choice part of the establishment, sabotage people who normally align with you, be so nauseating loud and superior that nobody wants to listen to you, blame any election loss on something else, boycott elections, shrug when the Democrat is elected & sets up rules to tilt future elections, live through unconstitutional, war-like tyranny, have everything taken away & then be forced to listen to you complain about the problem you helped institute. Is nindlessly supporting a sect that represents a bipartisan elite bad? Absolutely. I am as tired of them as you are & convinced it has to change? Is assuming one 80 year old guy is the only person in the political sphere that genuinely opposes it self defeating? Absolutely. Yall chase away everybody who isn’t Trump from being an advocate for Conservative nationalist thought by convincing yourselves that you are the only true believers & anybody that differs on who should be the candidate to make our argument is a corrupt sellout like Mitch McConnell. The fact that so many Trumpists don’t think electability should be discussed or central to any candidate is part of the problem we find ourselves in 🤔
Better to vote for Trump and make them steal the election than vote for deep state approved candidates.
So go ahead and vote for another George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, or other Rino that the GOPe chooses for you. Hold your nose and vote for the lesser of two evils, knowing full-well, that you are still getting evil when all is said and done. Go along to get along, which is the slogan of Congressional Republicans. You get what you vote for.
“...If there was a concentration on getting conservatives elected, we could pass statewide voting reforms that protect and reinforce honest elections, we could close the borders, deport & build a permanent barrier, ...”
That’s bullsh!t and you know it.
Since 2000 they had President + House and Senate for eight years, and none of that happened.
In fact, Ass-clown Paul Ryno et al. deliberately sabotaged the Wall, such that Trump had to go to emergency spending just to get some of it built.
The same Fake-ass “conservatives” like Michael McCaul said the Wall was too expensive and not necessary. Now he sends hundreds of billions to Ukraine and says it is a national imperative.
The UniParty is all lying douchbags, and the idea that they should still be supported despite 30 years of betrayals is the REAL stupidity of the right, and why it is constant defeat.

True. Too many Republican voters haven’t figured out the difference between good oratory and good governance. They’re fooled by the “conservatives” who give great speeches, but do nothing but go along to get along when the cameras are off.
They are exactly the definition of insanity that we use in relation to Democrats: Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome.
306 days until the Republican convention. :)
Maybe he/she is Catholic and not Protestant. We don’t have Sunday school. Any more silly judgments you want to make? 🤣
How adorable. You still think a serious thoughtful conservative on this planet can win the WH in our current political environment. It will take a warrior who is on the offense to have a chance under our corrupted election process. None of the GOP candidates running today have what it takes to beat the deep state. A survivor like Trump is our best bet to secure a conservative victory in 2024 because he has withstood the onslaught since 2015 and is still kicking.
It’s not my desire , fondest or otherwise, to see Trump lose. I voted for him twice. I’d rather have him than any Democrat.
But he isn’t going to win, especially if convicted of something. Everything you say about Desantis not getting independents and some Republicans is as, if not more, applicable to Trump.
And, quite simply, if you’re correct that Desantis does not have crossover appeal, that is in large part due to disingenuous persons such as yourself who are fabricating a narrative about him because of blind loyalty to Trump.
There’s a lot of mental illness manifesting itself here these days. We’ve crossed the rubicon from “my candidate is better qualified” to “my candidate gives my life meaning.”
This is true. The right has chosen to vote with their emotions as the left usually does.
REALITY101:
It’s TRUMP or Communism
It’s not rocket science...
You're not Behind Liberal Lines. You are the Liberal Line. It's Trump or bust. There is no third option.
And at what point does that become a cult?
Well, then, I have a bad feeling it is going to be bust. That’ll be on you and everyone else who stupidly equated blind loyalty to principles.
