CLAY, N.Y. — On September 13, gun owners in New York State will have to go through a background check every time they want to buy ammunition and those background checks aren't free.
The news about the state implementing changes. didn’t exactly thrill Syracuse Pistol Club president Bill Bender, "Everybody is concerned. The dealers are concerned because they have received no information from the state police yet."
It will be $9 for the firearm background fee and $2.50 for the ammunition fee. The money will go towards the New York State Police to perform those checks, “Now the governor and assembly are adding all this extra work to them. How long is it going to take them to perform these background checks?”

Bender additionally expressed concern about the proposed three to five cent per bullet tax that's in discussion right now in Albany, “If I go in a buy a whole bunch of ammunition at one time because I only want to pay that amount once, is that going to create a red flag someplace?”
Bender thinks people will find a way to go around the new law.

Probably too late, but everyone should learn to reload.
Hmmm, moving to Florida might be a popular one.
(And taking their tax money and businesses with them.)
“Hmmm, moving to Florida might be a popular one.”
I understand Florida is getting pretty full. I would suggest....Oh...Oregon. That’s it Oregon.
Government: forcing people to pay for busywork that they don’t want performed and which benefits nobody.
Interesting idea.
Displaced Californians have done such a nice makeover job there too.
It will be $9 for the firearm background fee and $2.50 for the ammunition fee.
= = =
If the fee is for a background check, why are the fees different?
Do they ‘check harder’ for a firearm vs. ammo?
It seems like a ‘check’ is a ‘check’. You pass or don’t.
Politicians should pay a fee every time the duct tape is pulled back from their nose so they can breathe because “Government Warming”.
How will they know if the ammunition was purchased in NY? Had your stash for years or brother sent you some from a Free State.
Violent criminals have no intention of going through that process.
This new law is designed to assure the criminals keep their guns but non-violent citizens lose theirs.
Same end goal as allowing shoplifting up to $950 per day per criminal - destroy the good guys and give the bad guys the power.
Don’t worry. Now that Democrats are going down and escorting the illegal aliens into America, the cartel boyz will needs something to do. The Ammo black market. The Ammo War will fail just like the drug war failed. We be good.
Paul Kersey : Nothing to do but cut and run, huh? What else? What about the old American social custom of self-defense? If the police don’t defend us, maybe we ought to do it ourselves.
Jack Toby : We’re not pioneers anymore, Dad.
Paul Kersey : What are we, Jack?
Jack Toby : What do you mean?
Paul Kersey : I mean, if we’re not pioneers, what have we become? What do you call people who, when they’re faced with a condition or fear, do nothing about it, they just run and hide?
Jack Toby : Civilized?
Paul Kersey : No.
I am so glad I left that communist hellhole.
I so wish we could. We have a small biz, rental property and family here. The change of seasons is beautiful but the politics stink due to lack of a county-based electoral college.
PA or VT will provide a ammo resource for those gun owners...
They will just get it from neighboring states or steal it.
.....bring your (conservative!!) self to The Lone Star State...! a politician down here would be tarred and feathered if he/she ever proposed something as egregious as that....virtually all gun stores, Academy, etc. are stocked full of ammo....not as cheap as it used to be but there is a lot of it...!!
Sounds like a poll tax to me.
This is all unconstitutional(shall not infringe) and yet I see no one challenging it. Where is the NRA?
What I think would be a really funny thing is if someone were to get this struck down because of he ‘disparate impact’ these unconstitutional regulations and taxes would have on blacks.
