In a video taken from the passenger seat of a car after Narendra Modi’s address to the joint session of Congress in June, Vivek Ramaswamy was full of praise for the Indian prime minister.
“Modi talked unapologetically about Indian national identity,” he said in the video, which was posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. “He quoted the Vedas, ancient Indian scriptures. Yet here in the United States we have now gotten in the habit of apologizing for our own national history. … That’s what I think we need to learn here from Modi’s visit, is that we in this country are at our best when we too do not apologize for who we are.”
These seem like standard talking points on their face. But there were two somewhat remarkable things about the comments. First, Ramaswamy referenced something so distinctly Indian—the Vedas (Hindu religious texts)—when addressing a Republican base that’s overwhelmingly white and Christian. Second, and more strangely, he seemed to praise Modi’s Hindu nationalism—and call for an American equivalent.
An American equivalent can mean only one thing. Hindus represent about 1 percent of the U.S. population; Ramaswamy certainly isn’t advocating for Hindu nationalism in America. Instead, he appears to advocate for a similarly shaped religious nationalism in the U.S. based on the country’s majority faith: Christianity.
Indeed, Ramaswamy has all but explicitly supported Christian nationalism on the campaign trail. “Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values, there’s no doubt about it,” the candidate told NBC News in July. And in an interview with NewsNation this month, he declared, “I believe I live by those values more so than many self-proclaimed Christian politicians.”

Oh my what a villain to the libs.
That seals it. I am convinced.
Has the United States Become Judeo-Christian-Islamic?

UNITED STATES, May 17, 2003: Leading Muslim organizations say it’s time for Americans to stop using the phrase “Judeo-Christian” when describing the values and character that define the United States. Better, they say, are “Judeo-Christian-Islamic” or “Abrahamic,” referring to Abraham, the patriarch held in common by the monotheistic big three religions. The new language should be used “in all venues where we normally talk about Judeo-Christian values, starting with the media, academia, statements by politicians and comments made in churches, synagogues and other places,” said Agha Saeed, founder and chairman of the American Muslim Alliance, a political group headquartered in Fremont, Calif. According to a 1984 scholarly article by religion writer Mark Silk, “Judeo-Christian” wasn’t used to refer to a common American outlook of values and beliefs until World War II, when the supposedly Christian Nazis and their death camps made future references to “our Christian civilization” sound ominously exclusive. “‘Judeo-Christian,’ which in 1952 looked like an incredibly inclusive term, doesn’t look very inclusive now,” said Silk, now director of the Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life at Trinity College, in Hartford. Conn., in an interview. “So we probably need a new term.” Osama Siblani, an influential voice among American Muslims and publisher of the Arab-American News in Dearborn, Mich., takes an even broader view. “I believe we should call this the United States of America, made up of Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Jews and others,” said Siblani. “This stuff about language has to stop. We are all just Americans.”
HPI adds: America’s founding fathers consciously avoided creating a “Christian nation.” Thomas Jefferson, author of the declaration of Independence, authored in 1786 the “Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom,” which set strong precedent for the standing of religion in the new country. He wrote that during a debate to adopt the bill, “An amendment [which proposed to insert] the words, ‘Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion,’ [was rejected] by a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mohammedan, the Hindoo and the infidel [any non-Christian] of every denomination.”
Ah, but he hasn’t renounced Hindu or his Indian tribal culture. And what’s he know about American after growing up in an Indian family, marrying an Indian, hiring H1B Indians in his company, etc.?
A few articles out saying this guy is a member of the WEF, a donator- watch him carefully.
Jeez. It’s politics.
Same as asking “How did Zelensky, a Jew, align himself with Right Sector and similar nationalist parties?”
Awkwardly.
I like him.
He was born in America, grew up in America and educated in America. So why shouldn't he know about "American"?
“Aligning Himself With Christian Nationalists”
So he’s a nationalist who’s a Hindu, but calling him a “Hindu Nationalist” doesn’t provide the necessary frisson. Not in America, anyway. So let’s say that he aligns himself with nationalists whose religion happens to be Christianity. Scary.
Yes this is an ongoing meme on Free Republic, that Vivek is affiliated with George Soros and WEF.
Some Freepers come here and they say that Vivek is tied in with Soros. And then other Freepers come in and debunk the evidence that he is somehow tied to Soros or WEF.
So which Freepers are we supposed to believe?
Then just about every president has been a "Christian nationalist."
Nobody with a brain seriously believes any of this.
He may have many flaws, but they try to say every candidate is from WEF. Except the ones that are.
That’s another myth.
He can link arms with trump to push big pharma to unparalled success.
Oh, the humanity!
The U.S. was Christian long before it was Judeo-Christian. The latter term did not even exist until the latter 1800s, when Jewish immigration became significant and starting exerting its influence.
I suppose Judeo-Christian-Islamic might be the next stage.
Liberals always attack minorities who they don’t agree with. Too bad the Indian community won’t respond to Molly Olmstead.
“Christian Nationalists”
The latest leftist buzz word to attack people for being prolife, anti-child mutilation, remove porn from schools, etc.
