Democrats renew push for voter protections on the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington

Congressional Democrats hope to revive a legislative effort to pass voter protections into law Monday, the 60th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington.

After several failed attempts to bolster voting rights on the federal level in a divided Congress, Democratic Rep. Nikema Williams, who was elected to the late civil rights leader John Lewis’ congressional seat in Georgia, has touted the latest push as “one of the most comprehensive voting rights legislative packages in congressional history,” according to a statement first shared with NBC News.

Williams, who co-chairs the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, has partnered with other Democrats in the House, as well as prominent Senate Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, to announce a package of eight bills — which includes new legislation to provide voter protections and accessibility for unhoused people, among other bills that have been previously introduced.

She said in the statement that the “legislative package takes a major step to ensuring everyone has free and fair access to the ballot,” adding that as “Jim Crow 2.0 continues to rise across the country, we urgently need comprehensive national standards to protect voting rights for everyone — no matter your ZIP Code, no matter your bank account.”

Williams represents metropolitan Atlanta, where former President Donald Trump was indicted this month on felony charges in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the battleground state.

Have you told them that we all get ONE (1) vote? You are not allowed to NEGATE MY vote with 1500 of yours.

I wish they would cite at least ONE case of a minority being denied the legitimate right to vote. Just one.

They cannot, because this isn’t happening. No legitimate voter is being refused the right to vote. The media loves to put examples of things in their numerous narratives and stories about mean, racist Republicans/Conservatives, but never in these stories about voting rights discrimination.

Why is that?

Consider what happened in Georgia.

The voter Georgia law was proclaimed to be “Jim Crow 2.0”.

Joe Biden called it not Jim Crow, but “Jim Eagle”. Nobody knew exactly what Jim Eagle was, but apparently was his attempt to make it sound worse than Jim Crow.

Major league baseball made their statement, pulling the All Star Game out of Atlanta, so they could make their half baked political statement to show that they are liberal.

And in the 2022 Georgia elections, in spite of all the Jim Crow talk, voter turnout was actually higher than in previous mid term election years.

So considering that voter turnout actually increased, in spite of the alleged Jim Crow voter law, how discriminatory is that law??????

But facts don’t matter to the liberals. So we are told that Georgia is an example of Jim Crow 2.0, and the president proclaims something about “Jim Eagle” to exemplify the point.

And the media dutifully report that Georgia has discriminated, even though this is factually incorrect.

Meanwhile, the GOP wants to take the elections back to ONE MAN, ONE VOTE. The way it was for the 1st Anniversary of the 60th Anniversary insurrection in the District of Corruption. This multiple mail-in ballot scam is booschidt.

“The legislation would counter another bill that was introduced by House Republicans, which proponents said would protect political speech, urge states to adopt voter ID mandates, restrict federal funds to states that allow noncitizens to vote and override some Washington, D.C., election laws. Critics argued that the GOP bill would disenfranchise voters of color and protect wealthy donors.”

The headline gives the impression that only Democrats have a voter rights plan. But the Republicans have a plan more in line with what the entire world regards as legitimate.

The Democrat-controlled media buries their mention of a Republican plan, making half of the coverage of it a criticism. There is no criticism of the Democrat plan.

Amazing, isn't it?

And consider the Media's role in this.

Whenever some outrageous charges are made by Republicans, no matter how much evidence or proof the have, the media is quick to fact check, use words casting it in doubt, or call it dis/misinformation.

Yet Biden makes his Jim Eagle comment, and not a single raised eyebrow at ABC/CBS/CNN/NBC/MSNBC/PBS/NYT/Wash Post...

It's all reported at face-value as if it is a legitimate argument by the President.

Not just this, but so many other things.

If a Republican makes a charge of election discrimination in Arizona, say, about conservatives being denied their vote--that is prima facia disinformation and election denial.
