Trump open to Vivek Ramaswamy as vice president (Yes ! )
Axios ^ | 8.29.2023 | Sophia Cai

Former President Trump showered Vivek Ramaswamy with praise when asked in an interview if he'd considered the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur for vice president.

Why it matters: It's the most Trump has weighed in on Ramaswamy's presidential candidacy, revealing his openness to a significantly younger and arguably more radical anti-Washington unknown.

Driving the news: Trump called Ramaswamy "smart" and "young" and "full of talent" when asked by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck what he thinks of a "Vice President Ramaswamy."

"He's a very, very, very intelligent person. He's got good energy, and he could be some form of something," Trump said of Ramaswamy. "I tell you, I think he'd be very good."

The exchange came less than a week after the first GOP debate, which Trump sat out but promised to watch for potential vice presidential picks. The intrigue: Trump, in the same interview with Beck, seemed to acknowledge Ramaswamy's tendency to drive controversy, urging him to reign it in.

What else is he going to say? It’s the smart reply. Doesn’t mean he means it.

“he could be some form of something”

I agree, but that statement could be parsed a number of ways.

You want a woman who can’t even win in her own State to be the VP nominee??? And we wonder why republicans can’t win elections.

Vivek’s policy announcements are diametrically opposite of Soros.

Ridiculous. Rapperphony has already lied about who his supposed god is, announced he supports a medical database that tracks all Americans, trannies in our military, a devastating inheritance tax, his support of TPP, claims that homosexuality is genetic, desire for handing Taiwan to China, ETC, based on what he's already admitted this guy is a nightmare if he ever gets control of anything. Let's see if he can even win a seat in Congress, and what he does then. If he's not willing to do that then F-off.

Harding named Coolidge as his running mate in 1920.

I see you have conceded that some Republican nominees named fine running mates and are now arguing it was a long time ago.

I don’t like it when people move the ball on me, like Lucy. Having won, I’ll cash in my chips.

I will be shocked and surprised if Ramaswamy wins nomination even if Trump is somehow disqualified. But stranger things can happen in politics. I do like his anti-foreign-war policies (Same as Trump) because of the national debt is so huge now, the interest paid to service debt will be bigger than entire defense budget very soon just in a year or two at most.

The Donald should assign Ramy the task of eliminating the alphabet agencies that Ramy promised to eliminate. As President of the Senate, let him put the squeeze on Schmuckie Schumer and all the other obnoxious, dem liars.

Yup. I’d pick Lake. She is smart, well spoken, well educated, tireless, and determined.

Maybe.....too many unknowns regarding Vivek. Would have to give him more time and investigation. Would like to see him interact with President Trump on a few occasions. Yes, he’s “bright”, seemingly a hard worker, etc......but President Trump has admittedly made some poor choices (ahem, cough, Mike Pence) and has admittedly come to Jesus with the ways of Washington DC, so I would want THIS choice thought about long and hard. Would like to see Byron Donalds (FL)...would like to see someone who has Trump’s back (visibly and at every turn) and will come out swinging from day one to push that lever on the handle that is the Swamp — all of it — and flush it, once and for all!!! There are probably other positions that Vivek may fill and do very well in.....if he’s not revealed to be a Trojan horse!!

I’d pick Lake.

Not a chance. According to reports Trump already completely parted ways with her after she tried to act like she was the main attraction during a book signing at Mar-a-Lago while Trump was there, among other things. Not sure she's been seen there since, and is already indicating she's running for Senate in Arizona now, instead. If Trump gets the nomination, he will select a mainstream Republican like Nikki Haley, to try to get those votes.

Yeah, not sure what he would see in Noem other than she would be a direct connection to an “energy” State and could fire up the “energy independence” anthem pretty quickly. I don’t think President Trump could ever expect to do that with Abbott of TX......

eligiblity?

Trump doesn't buy this birther nonsense.

Do you honestly think he believes four out of his five children are constitutionally ineligible?
