The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is warning of storm surges of 10–15 feet in some areas of Florida as hurricane Idalia makes landfall, warning residents of “destructive life-threatening winds” across the state.
“Catastrophic impacts from storm surge inundation of 10 to 15 feet above ground level and destructive waves are expected somewhere between Aucilla River and Yankeetown, Florida,” the National Hurricane Center’s (NHC) 11 a.m. update of the storm reads, warning that “life-threatening storm surge inundation” is likely for portions of the Gulf Coast.
Further, the NHC warns of the potential for “destructive life-threatening winds where the core of Idalia moves onshore in the Big Bend region of Florida, with hurricane conditions expected elsewhere in portions of the Hurricane Warning area along the Florida Gulf Coast.”

Actually it’s nice here this morning the canal is over flowing and we have a fairly strong breeze but I don’t think strong enough to cause damage. Those folks over in the big bend is under water the way it looks. But, that is very shallow water over there so it does not take much. Here is a webcam pointing at our canal. When water recedes you’ll see how high it is now:

No, it would be to the left several streets. Next time I drive by to I’ll take a pic and post it back here. That house was built for the wx here is stood the test.
Using bolts instead of nails or screws was a brilliant idea...........
Yeah, I dunno. Have cars been stalling on gas/diesel mix? We used to do that in the Army to get an extra kick from our field heaters.
I’d think most modern computerized ignition systems would be able to adjust for the diesel, just burn hotter.
