More people are killed by the storm surge than the winds................

Floods inland can get you.
Most people associate Hurricane Camille with the Gulf Coast, but floods caused by Camille killed over 200 people in Virginia.

While living in Houston, Tx for a decade I weathered (no pun intended) two trop storms and one hurricane. The latter did the most damage, but the flooding from the storms killed more people.
It was cool to look up thru the eye of the hurricane and see clear sky, bordered by miles high black walls of wind — like from some horror flic.

Another article this morning said the storm surges would be 10–15 INCHES. That grew quickly!

Water. Period.
Any kind of flooding. That’s what the main danger is.

29 Citgo stations from Ft Meyers to north of Tampa have fuel contaminated with diesel. It will cause the cars to stall on the roads and make gridlock. Almost every station is in an evacuation zone. Maui?

Folks, I’m HERE!!! I pray for the folks in the big bend but here at Mexico Beach the water is up to the dunes and our canal is full...We’re 50-75 miles west of ground zero. Here is a Youtube video in my hood from an hour or so ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEd1hGBwzCI
