Thinking about you and yours (including pets) constantly. Hope everything will be OK...
A tiny flying insect called the Asian Psyllid destroyed the FL citrus industry and is in the process of doing the same in CA. The Univ. of FL developed a new citrus variety, and recommends keeping the saplings covered with insect netting for two years. The netting is not hurricane strong. Heck, it is not really raccoon strong either, as evidenced by the scratches and runs in the netting. But we’re trying!
Thanks for the education... I had no idea. Damn insects! Why can’t the country / world eradicate SOME of these pests once and for all?
I'm sure your new house in SC will be fine, built to the latest coastal codes.
Thank you, Good Sir! NautiNurse’s hurricane threads are legendary on FR.
My prayers for you and your family continue. I hesitated to write that for a moment, but I know how much it has helped me to know I/my loved ones are being prayed for. I am just one humble pray-er among so many here here on FR, but hey, when you add us all up, that’s a heap of prayers. And love and gratitude!
Thank you again, sir.
Amen!
It makes it easier to organize evacuations, call up NG workers for emergency work, and do other prep work at local levels with state support to save lives and property. Think, FRiend...the emergency isn’t after the sun comes out and the clean up is all that’s left. The emergency is when their is clear and present danger to life and property or credible threat of same.
Getting tropical wind and rain.

Forecast shows Hurricane Idalia will be ‘extremely dangerous’

Jimmy Petronis warning Floridians not to trust the first “workers” showing up at the door following the storm. He said we might as well set the money on fire if considering giving it to the scammers. Lots of swindlers are pre-positioned to hustle desperate homeowners in disaster areas following the storm.
My saplings are gonna get a salt bath tonight.

Always will be. Just like carpet baggers in days gone by.

‘Eleven?’ No ‘Seven of Nine?’ ;)
Stay safe southern FReepers! Thanks for your posts, NN!
Are they minimally salt tolerant?
The problem isn't the insects. The problem is poor farming techniques. Everything is "heirloom" or "legacy". Most Florida citrus trees are clones. There's no diversity. And since there's no diversity, every little pest or fungus that comes along is allowed to take a foothold. This is why most of my trees are from seed.
