The Chinese own both political parties (McConnnell and friends on the right, Biden and friends on the left).
China has a falling/aging population thanks to their 1-child policy, so a wholesale invasion (world war style) is out of the question. Plus, they already own large chunks of American real estate and industry. Why blow up what you already own?
I would guess the best outcome they could hope for is the break-up of the USA into smaller countries. This would preserve their investments here and at the same time remove their largest military opponent. Ironically, it would also be in the best interest of the American people.
The components of the former USA would still be strong enough to maintain order and self defense, but not strong enough to project power beyond our border(s).
The bigest losers would be the welfare states in Europe and Asia that have been mooching off of the American taxpayer for the last 50+ years. They would either have to fund their own defense (at the expense of their liberal social safety net) or make peace with their large neighbors (Russia and China).
I could easily see the USA split into 3 countries.
West Coast= People’s Republic of California
Mid West & Old South= The Constitutional States of America (CSA)!
East Coast= New England Socialist Republic
The East Coast would probably hobble along like a weak EU nation. The CSA would thrive without the socialist dead weight. The People’s Republic of California would probably collapse and become a failed state thanks to their “diversity” and woke insanity.
California, as well as Oregon and Washington, if detached from the United States, would probably be absorbed by a Chinese-Mexican alliance. Southern California and the Central Valley would be absorbed into Mexico, with the rest falling under the CCP. The Russians would take Alaska and possibly northern and western Canada)

Like you said, the CSA would fight and thrive. Despite how it looks, Georgia still has a lot of patriots outside of Atlanta. Tennessee has Memphis but the state as a whole is patriot. These people know what is going on and while nobody here wants war, they see what is happening.
