How about this, The Spectator, March 22, 2022, Ukrainians fear Chechen fighters. Russian soldiers hate them.

Still; the missile trail would be shown right up to the explosion smoke

It was an explosion in the fuel tank caused by a spark from a wire.

Jet fuel is designed to be decently non-explosive. Combustible, yes, but not very explosive. Also, tanks are usually overpressured to lower the vapor in the air as well. Some even have inerting systems using nitrogen or other inert gases instead of air.

What wires are sitting inside a fuel tank, that would even create a spark? Fuel level gauges are usually installed into the wall of the tank or a spar, not just floating around with wires trailing. And most such sensors likely don't have the power running through them to spark and set anything off. Granted, this was probably a Russian jet so who knows what shoddy construction went into it, but you theory is pretty unlikely.
