Kevin Sorbo gained fame in the 1990s when he starred as the title character in the globally syndicated series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, which ran from 1994-1999, but in a new interview, he claimed that acting work dried up for him once he publicly started discussing his Christian beliefs.
Speaking to Fox News yesterday (Aug. 21), Sorbo stated, “It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative.”
He continued, “I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street. It screams for freedom of speech. But Hollywood’s a one-way street as well. And that’s just too bad, you know. But I love the industry. I love the movies and TV.”
Sorbo added, “It was really weird. I mean, here’s the thing. We have such a huge divide in our country right now, and it’s perpetuated by the mainstream media, perpetuated by movies, TV. I don’t harbor that kind of anger and hatred towards people. I have a different point of view.”

About muscleman Steve Reeves........he became a supertstar in Italy portraying Hercules.
But it wasnt b/c of his acting.
Fans flocked to his movies ....waiting w/ bated breath to see him take his shirt off.
Most actors would love his career. He’s been in 163 movies and has 25 upcoming jobs. Perhaps more need to be blacklisted. Worth 14 million. Not to shabby.
James Woods was also blacklisted and has quit or semi retired. He doesn’t need the work.
Way back in 2001, in July in fact, I was getting married in Las Vegas to my wife. We spent our “rehearsal dinner” with my sister and brother-in-law, ourselves, and her parents at “The Rat Pack Is Back” dinner and show.
It’s about celebrating Frank Sinatra’s birthday, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, the whole “gang” is there, singing, having fun.
About halfway through this thing, they stop, shine the spotlight out in the audience, and sure enough, 2 or so tables away from me sat Kevin Sorbo and his wife. Genuinely surprised they did that, breaking character and the “time” theme, to do that, but it was nice to know.
Always enjoyed Hercules, Xena, etc., so thought it was cool I could say Kevin was at my rehearsal dinner.
One of the reasons that for the past several months, me and my sons have been watching “Andromeda” starring Kevin Sorbo.
Andromeda was based on an outline from Gene Roddenberry, IIRC.
