We Need a Truce: Trump's and DeSantis's people can't tear each other apart and allow Biden to skate back into the White House
American Thinker ^ | 08/21/2023 | Christopher Skeet

Election season is rapidly approaching. The first Republican debate is this week. The Iowa caucus is in January, and the New Hampshire primary is soon thereafter. With over a dozen declared candidates, the marathon placements are starting to take shape.

For now, don't lean too heavily on polls. First, we're too far out, and too much can happen. Second, we all know how we feel about polls. The poll showing our candidate doing well is Gospel. The poll showing our candidate faring poorly is Soros-funded dreck. As the polls change direction, so too change their designations. Rinse. Repeat.

But taking this into consideration, it is undeniable that, if all primary voting were held today, then Trump would win handily, DeSantis would come in a solid second, and both Ramaswamy and Scott will have garnered enough second-tier support to warrant vice presidential consideration. Unfortunately for whichever camp you fall into, the polling so far suggests that Trump can't lose the primary and can't win the general election.

But what should be a civil discussion among rational conservatives is turning personal and nasty — not just among candidates, but among their supporters as well. Trump-supporters are treating DeSantis-supporters like neocon sellouts, and DeSantis-supporters are treating Trump-supporters like cultish conspiracy theorists. Neither charge is merited, and the rabble-rousers on both sides would do well to cut the ad hominem attacks. Such are the tactics of leftists peddling the sexualization of children, not of principled Americans who reasonably disagree about the best path forward.

They spied on my campaign.

No doubt. Trump started it..
Way back in 2015 when he announced and your nation of R’s and D’s co owned swamp made him public enemy number one.

And his Deplorables public enemy number two..

It should end with Trump.
Obliterating the R and D Co owned Swamp

“Only Trumper heads would explode at the idea of a Trump/DeSantis ticket. They would abandon Trump if he should pick RDS.”

I think the more likely result would be ultrasonic spin in an attempt to justify DJT’s change of position to themselves.

You got that right. All these RDS haters would certainly and suddenly wet themselves with glee if Trump picked DeSantis as veep.

Well done Jerry. Finally. Somebody gets me.
I went to the local Mexican Town candle merchant next to Most Holy Redeemer Church in S.W. Detroit (Mexcican Town) last Sunday to get a new Mary Candle, and to my surprise the had a new candle for El Presidente Trump. I snatched that bad boy up like lickity split I'm here to tell ya!
As a “Good” 😉Roman Catholic I now not only pray to the baby Jesus, and Mother Mary I can also give props to the man who walks the earth at this moment.

"If Trump called DeSantis supporters Listless Vessels not only would you not have a problem with it, I strongly suspect you would find it humorous."

Thanks for pointing out that President Trump has confined his criticism to DeSantis, and in fact, to this day, praises Florida voters for responding to Trump throwing Meatball over the line when he nearly lost to a down-low, meth-head Democrat.

I’m surprised to find this article on American Thinker.
Among the clunkers
“Unfortunately for whichever camp you fall into, the polling so far suggests that Trump can’t lose the primary and can’t win the general election.”
The pretense that Republicans need to make nice to every candidate is ridiculous. People shouldn’t snip but everyone should be able to speak their minds and raise issues.

I won’t even watch the debates unless Larry Elder is on stage. The debates are just for lazy stupid voters that have no intellectual curiosity and need to be spoon fed their nonsense.

And don't forget now. Now Rudy G. is a hero. A staunch supporter of Trump. Yet a few years ago... Hundreds of FReepers got bugzapped:

Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?

However... Giuliani is a hero today. If however he throws Trump under the bus in Georgia as expected.... He'll be back to a zero.

We are a fickle lot here at FR.

We love them. We hate them. We hate them. We love them.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

It'll be the same if DeSantis is picked as the nominee. It has to be. It's always been that way. You hold your nose and vote GOPe.

Or some moron (Perot) comes along and other morons vote third party. Which we know gives the election to the liberals.

It’s simple what the establishment backed politicians stand for.. the continued betrayal and selling off of america, in order to line their own pockets.

There isn’t a dime of difference between any of them, because when push comes to shove that’s what they all are.

Trump has the dominance he has with the electorate because he’s the only one who’s even given a voice to the things that matter to the electorate.. because he’s not fully dependent on the money men who don’t give a rats arse about the electorate, or this nation.

That’s the reality and that is why Trump is where he is and the rest combined can’t even get 50% support.

What the establishment want, open borders, free trade, cheap labor, dependency class, failing schools and ignorant and compliant adults, high taxes, inflation, undermined anti trust laws, corrupt and captive agencies, and an administrative state are all utterly against the things the people want and you think it’s a coincidence none of them were ever mentioned by a single candidate until Trump in 15?!?!

The Uniparty/globalist/establishment need destroyed and they won’t be by voting for more of them

The nevertrumpers/desantis supporters want Trump to be in jail or dead

I rarely if ever call someone a liar, but in the case of backpacker, since his claim to fame is calling everyone who ever disagrees with him a liar, I will make an exception.

And in this case, it's two lies he posted, in one sentence, making him a very efficient liar. First, nevertrumpers and DeSantis supporters are not one and the same. Certainly not here. Almost every one of us previously supported Trump for President, still support him in these criminal trials, and will probably even vote for him again if he's the nominee.

Your second lie is you claiming the DeSantis supporters here want Trump either in jail, or dead. I don't want him in jail, that would be horrible for him, his family, the Republican Party, and therefore most of us, and bad for even the entire country. I don't want him dead, either, I hope he's able to prove himself innocent, again for all our benefit, but it's going to take many more years.

No one’s heads would explode, in fact at one point nearly all would have cheered, however Desantis’ poor decision making and alignment with the establishment would make this combo now toxic and doa.

This right here:

Tump die hards have based their whole identity around him. They own a wardrobe of entirely Trump t-shirts, and put Trump flags on their lawns, windows, trucks, and motorcycles, as Sean Hannity preaches to them on their radios and TVs. To them it’s either Trump or no voting at all.

Trump is a religious icon to them the same way that that a leftist single woman worships Rachel Maddow, RBG, or Stacey Abrams, with the T-shirts, prayer candles, and with MSNBC constantly blaring.

The same applies for Trump followers. If Trump appears with Lindsay Graham, or Bruce Jenner, they are fine with it. If Trump locks down the country, no problem. If Trump brags about the deadly vax, they will overlook it. Whenever Trump calls someone a childish name, they clap like seals and roar with delight. They will repeat the childish insult repeatedly in deference to their gold frocked deity. “De Sanctus!!” (What does that even mean?)

If Trump says he is too good to debate, then worshippers will go along with it, chanting: “Why should he debate when corporate CNN polls say he’s ahead 6 months away before the first primary vote? Polls, polls, polls”, but in 2020 when Biden was hedging on whether to debate, Trump told his congregation repeatedly that Biden was too afraid to debate him, and that the polls were phony, and they of course roared in agreement. When Trump foolishly signed the CARES act, he paid for a fraudulent election, and he, nor any of his devotees cared or bothered to read the details. Details are for nerds and bookworms in Trump world.

If Trump dropped out tomorrow due to health they would no longer vote for anybody or anything. Trump is who they love. They aren’t interested in local bond issues or candidates for prosecutors or school related issues because those are boring and they don’t have tailgate rallies that play the Village People. They want Trump back. “He learned from his mistakes! I don’t care that he is 78, only one man can fight the deep state. So what if he hangs with Lindsay Graham and hired Chris Wray?”

I wonder what kind of nasty name Trump would have in store for Kristi Noem?

We could poll a bunch of 7th grade boys for ideas.I’m sure they could come up with ideas.

You Ronlims are a personal reflection on how bad your candidate is, as the fish always rots from the top.

Again and again, you Ronlims are an embarrassment to good Freepers and FreeRepublic, and you should be bloc-banned just as the Buchananites and the Tedlims were, and you will be.

So you set up your strawman...
Wasted time & effort because that strawman exists only in your mind informed by bitterness & frustration.

I don’t own a piece of Trump gear BTW and do not look for Trump marks of approval. Only the never trumpers are all Trump all the time.

“It seems doubtful DeSanctus can hurt trump.”

He can only hurt himself.

It’s the DeSantis people that need a truce...in order to preserve hope for him ever holding a federal office.

And I think it’s too late no matter what. All hope they may have held for that has been squandered and pissed on.

He cudda been somebody.

I doubt sincerely Trump will pick anyone on the debate stage as VP candidate. They have very little to offer.
