FEC Tells DeSantis 29% of His Donations Can’t Be Used in GOP Primary
The National Pulse ^ | August 9, 2023 | WILLIAM UPTON

Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign has been informed by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that $2.6 million of his donations have been incorrectly labeled for use in the presidential primary, and must instead be only used for general election funds. This strips almost another 30 percent of campaign cash away from the Florida Governor’s coffers, already threatened by overspending and a drying up of donations.

The financial state of Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign has many political observers wondering if the Florida Governor can even make it to the Iowa Caucuses in January.

According to FEC data, the DeSantis campaign had just over $9 million cash-on-hand at the beginning of July. However, the FEC letter detailing the incorrectly labeled donations also showed that actual cash-on-hand number was much lower, around $6.6 million – and there are some indications that the number may yet be even lower than that.

The lack of cash only compounds the set backs the DeSantis campaign has suffered over the past few weeks, culminating in the demotion of campaign manager Generra Peck on Tuesday, who is replaced by a 35-year-old Rubio-world lawyer who has never run a political campaign before.

Is this on orders from the Biden Administration?

any effort to reboot the Desantis campaign at this point by pressing control, alt and delete, is like biden promoting electric vehicles without charging systems set in place. Leaving a whole lot of EV’s stranded at best, or even worse on fire aboard sinking cargo vessles.

At this point, he may be better off if he just pretends he was running a troll to get more likes on Twitter or Tik Tok.

Just asking a legitimate question? I am actually a Trump supporter FYI.

How are the primary/general election funds calculated? Aren’t all funds before the primaries considered donations for the primaries? This sounds peculiar.

If they can do this to DeSantis, they can do the same to Trump. Perhaps they’re waiting for him to be the nominee and then pulling out campaign funds equal to what he’s spent on lawsuits to deplete his coffers at that time. I wouldn’t put it past them.

How can the Federal Election Committee show its face after turning a blind eye while the 2020 election was stolen so blatantly?

Isn’t it’s purpose to keep elections fair? What a pathetic joke the FEC is.

No, I don’t know the amount, but there is a max you can accept from someone for the primary and a max for the general. Some folks have exceeded their primary allowed so the rest of their donation will be used for the general if he gets there. Otherwise, it needs to be returned to donors.

Is this legit? And that new campaign leader, yikes...

No experience?

I want DeSantis treated fairly. If the funds are being
limited fairly, I guess it is what it is, but if he’s
being sabotaged on the orders of,... not going to back
that.
