He planned to run probably in 2020. Trump got wind of this, and called him out early. Remember when he referred to him as Desanctimonious.
Many of us here, my too, were aghast that he would speak to someone like Desantis, whom we all thought was loyal to Trump.
Fact is, Trump knew he was going to betray him, and of course he did.
Desantis would have been wise to have waited to announce, but Trump smoked him out, and so he came out earlier, and wounded.
Trump is our man. He won in 2020, we all know this, and the facts will prove this.

It is so generous of you to equate the worth of a man with some success in Florida under a Republican legislature who enabled every one of that man’s actions with a man who produced unparalleled achievements for an entire Nation accomplished against nonstop abuse and obstruction while that same man advanced peace and cooperation among Nations.
Further you equate a man who has never worked outside of Government, who did not risk his own money or position, with a man who established a vast empire of projects in the USA & abroad. A man whom instead of growing rich in a Government position donated his entire salary and lost 1/2 his accumulated wealth as the cost of returning to the Nation he loves a portion of her greatness. A man used to making decisions, falling down & getting back up with limitless determinations. A man in the fight.

Your bias blinds you. DeSantis is no white knight. He has made a few moves to push back on woke ideology. It is unclear whether those publicized moves were as a bridge to his run for the Presidency or an outgrowth of deeply held belief. His votes in Congress suggest that those priorities were unimportant at that point in his career.

My take on it is that the Republican base voter is disgusted with the useless GOP leadership and the Big Money interests that pay them to be useless. Republican voters see who is bankrolling DeSantis’ campaign and they don’t want any of it. So, in spite of what DeSantis has done in Florida, the very fact that he is aligned with the same interests who have been screwing us for for decades means he’s dead in the water.
