I don’t see the softening. He has repeated shared that at federal level he would stop public funding of abortion and abortion travel, such as the military. He’s also stated that specific states need to determine there own laws, noting that what works in Florida and Iowa might not work in the Northeast, for example. I sure have not seen a change overall and I’ve ben watching closely.
Besides, whatever DeSantis is doing is definitely more conservative and consistent than Trump who has openly criticized Florida’s restrictive abortion laws, maybe others. Trump’s not a conservative and on the topic his only legit claim is three Supreme Court justices.
He has no core. He is whatever is good for him & his donors.
He is another politician who will do nothing to stop America’s destruction.

The only difference between him and Mitt Romney is that he had to run as a conservative to get elected in Florida and govern as one to have any chance of ever have chance of winning the GOP nomination for President.
