The Hill: Gravity of new Trump charges scrambles GOP politics
The Hill ^ | 08/03/23 6:00 AM ET | BY ALEXANDER BOLTON

The indictment brought against former President Trump for trying to halt the transfer of presidential power in 2021 has been met with somber silence from many Republican senators, who view the new charges as more serious than the previous felony counts faced by Trump.

The four new charges unveiled by special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday focus on Trump’s actions in the lead-up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, which prompted seven Senate Republicans to vote in February 2021 to convict him on the impeachment charge of inciting an insurrection.

Senate Republican aides and strategists say the gravity of the new charges is underscored by the blistering speech Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) delivered at the end of Trump’s impeachment trial, in which he called Trump “practically and morally responsible” for the chaos of that day and suggested he could face criminal prosecution.

Conservative legal experts are raising concerns about the free speech implications of charging Trump for claiming repeatedly over the course of weeks that the election was marred by fraud and for revving up a large crowd of supporters that then marched on the Capitol.

But Republican strategists say the latest indictment could have the biggest impact on Trump’s candidacy for president because the American public is well aware of the chaos and violence of Jan. 6.

...

A Senate Republican strategist who requested anonymity to discuss Trump’s indictment said the latest charges are the ones he most “deserves,” because Jan. 6 was a direct attack on the nation’s tradition of transferring power peacefully and resulted in injuries to more than 100 Capitol police officers.

The latest DOJ Indictment Of Trump Is A Declaration Of War
Against American Voters......not about Trump. It’s about:
<><>criminalizing dissent
<><>punishing the millions who voted for him —
<><>and warning them not to do it again.

The indictment reads more like a Washington Post editorial with its contention that
<><>Trump was “determined to remain in power”
<><>and so “spread lies” that there had been fraud
<><>to “create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger,
<><>and erode public faith in the administration of the election.”

If contending that a presidential election was stolen is illegal,
<><>where is Al Gore’s indictment?
<><>No Democrats have ever been charged for claiming that Bush was elected by hanging chads,
<><>for challenging his election both times in Congress.

No indictments for spreading lies and launching investigations
for false claims that Trump had been elected by the Russians.

Even as they themselves tarred Trump in order to
“create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger.”

The leftists/fascists have really cranked up the propaganda to demoralize republican voters against Trump, after the latest dump of new charges.

They have even trotted out the likes of Bill Barr and Mike Pence to try and make all these shenanigans look legitimate.

They problem is that these Barr, Pence and these so-called "republican strategists" have no credibility whatsoever with a lot of the regular voters. They have been exposed for what they are.

“Gravity of new Trump charges”

This is just the old "It's Not the Nature of the Evidence; It's the Seriousness of the Charge” stuff from years ago.

The single-most important issue facing Americans is how ti organize and muster at the county level to bring all of this ti a screeching halt.

The Uniparty (R) scrambles to figure out another way to try to disconnect conservatives from the only chance America has. Conservatives are scrambling to ensure that they will be able to vote Trump regardless of the GOP DC Judases’ conniving.

I’ve never been a big fan of Donald Trump but I rejoiced when he beat that sour smelling Hillary Clintoon. I voted for him again during the STOLEN ELECTION OF 2020. Right now, as I ponder a list of ahos out to get him, I will crawl over broken glass to vote for him in 2024 whether the Swamp Nazis put him in jail or not.

There are people — many of whom are in positions of prominence — who's manner of thinking, of interpreting information and events, of prioritizing the significance of things, is so distorted that they appear to be insane. They've made for themselves an alternate reality that appears to them to be internally consistent only because they suppress contradictory evidence. This model exists only in their minds, but is in fact a shared experience which enables them to achieve a sense of validation and confidence.

There’s zero gravity in those charges.

In fact, those charges can be used to point out how easily the democrats have used the criminal justice system to serve their agenda. Trump would not be charged with any violations at all, if he wasn’t running for president again. It’s the politization of the justice system to try to discourage Trump from running.

Democrats fear Trump and they fear him most because, if he wins, he’ll come after them big time. The 2020 election would be investigated like it wasn’t because democrats had control of the voting systems and judges in the disputed areas. Fear of the truth coming out. Fear that American would finally see how corrupt the whole democrat party is. Fear of Trump putting an end to most of the democrat agenda, like forcing people to drive EVs and killing oil and coal industries. Fear of Trump closing the border, again. Fear of Trump and republicans setting up systems to make all elections fair and with proper accounting. Fear of Trump making America great again.

Ending democrat control that is destroying American, is what democrats fear the most.

Lawsuits will not end until Trump is out of the picture, but, he’s not going away.

You name it

They want a Revolution, period. That’s all that matters to them. The “issues” are just a means to an end.

But the “suppression of evidence” is necessary in order to be able to make sense of the world, which is such a cacophony of information overload mixed with a maelstrom of nonsense. We all engage in the suppression of evidence to one degree or another, just to make everyday life manageable.

The vast majority of Republican voters don’t care what McConnell says about anything. They want him gone, or in my case, worse. And here’s the rub. What matters most, Republican voters or elected Republican officials? The Hill thinks elected officials, and we don’t give a damn. The vast majority of Republican voters, a good chunk of independent voters and even some Democrat voters side with Trump because they have a clear understanding of justice and our fundamental rights. This latest indictment is an attempt to eliminate Trump from the 2024 election. That’s disenfranchisement. The route the indictment takes is to legally abuse Trump’s 1a rights.

It’s a double whammy. Abuse Trump’s rights and concurrently abuse voters rights. There’s also a very heavy handed message to all Trump supporters that weaponized government can be used against them, not only for supporting Trump, but also for supporting any candidate that has policies similar to Trump.

The vast majority of people in DC and in the media don’t understand any of that. They are wrapped up in things that every day Americans simply do not care about. We want substantially less of them and to be left alone by government so we can lead productive lives.

The persecution of Trump, January Sixers and their unjust prison sentences, and nationwide refusal to investigate election irregularities are all designed to make us accept whatever the Deep State decrees. The Supreme Court’s refusal to review election irregularities did us no favor. Had they allowed legal challenges to play out we would have had an acceptable resolution to the election results. Instead we have a very divided America with a government that has grown so big that it now exercises control over citizens instead of citizens controlling it. This is exactly what our founding fathers foresaw, warned us about, and inserted the First and Second Amendments to protect us from. Is there any wonder why both of these amendments are under attack?

The push to a world government is coming at America’s expense. I never thought I would be living in a country that persecuted Christians, ignored the basic laws of civilization (I.e., property rights, theft), worked from within to destroy the industrial might that created prosperity, pushed racism to divide us, ignored personal freedoms openly prosecuted those with different views, and so on. America is being transformed into a nation of sheep with the road leading to a slaughterhouse. May God help us.

You’ve nailed it.

And not only Gore, but also Kerry and sHrillary. - it’s EVERY time a Democrat loses now. - they claim fraud.

But in 2020, we, the whole nation; the whole world watched the shenanigans happen in real time.

This is all about warning us that we didn’t see what we saw and we’d better shut our mouths about that - or else!

Over 100 officers were injured around the White House during the 5/31/20 BLM riots, not 1/6/21 during the MAGA Self-directed Congressional Tour. Which they opened the doors for, btw.

The Hill are vermin.
