Closed-door Meetings Held Between DeSantis, Georgia Leadership And Kemp Immediately Following Legislative Session
Georgia Record ^ | 7/30/23 | staff

Posted on 07/30/2023 8:05:51 PM PDT by CFW

Brian K. Pritchard disclosed the meetings during his comments on The Georgia 2024 Show today. Mr. Pritchard explained that the day after the Georgia legislative session ended Gov. Ron DeSantis showed up in The Georgia Capitol building and was ushered into a series of closed-door meetings. These included a session with Republican Senators, a meeting with a group of Georgia House Members and House Leader Jon Burns, and a private lunch with Gov. Brian Kemp.

The subject of each of these discussions has been kept private, but clearly there was a reason and agenda for DeSantis to visit the Georgia Capitol.

DeSantis has struggled against a mounting list of negatives. His polling continues to decline with last weeks Harvard-Harris poll showing DeSantis at 12 points barely two points above Vivek Ramaswamy at 10 and 40 points behind Trump who had 52 points.

DeSantis association with Christina Pushaw has also spawned questions aafter Pushaw apparently called for the use of Florida's "Baker Act" to confine and silence journalists and perhaps Trump supporters. Pushaw has also been tied to her work in Ukraine where her activities included celebrating Zelenski's rise to power.

The Georgia legislative session ended on March 29th of this year. Why would the Georgia state legislative then be having a closed door meeting with DeSantis? I can understand a lunch with a fellow GOP governor. Such a thing is not unusual. However, a closed door session with the state legislative does strike me as a bit strange.

If they were wanting to discuss DeSantis' legislative successes in Florida, you would think that would be something to discuss prior to the end of the session. Why was the Ga Legislature meeting with DeSantis at the end of March?

I don't think it is necessarily anything nefarious, but Kemp's actions towards Trump after using him to be elected as Governor of Georgia and ever since the 2020 election, I have very little trust in Brian Kemp. I also have little trust in the "Sea Island" GOP group (think Karl Rove) that meets every year for their little confab where decisions are made that they refuse to disclose to the voters.

If any Georgians have any insight, please share it here.

kemp, raffensperger, and many of the Georgia gop have their own corrupt power club there, and are working to keep control of their power.

Which meant that they worked to get Trump out of office.

Even when it meant that they woud lose U.S. senate seats in a deal with the left.

“Even when it meant that they woud lose U.S. senate seats in a deal with the left.”

I’ve long suspected that Kemp made a deal to be re-elected Governor instead of Stacy Abrams in exchange for one (and just one) Georgia Senate seat. His hand-picked candidate, Kelly Loefler (and all her money) was supposed to be elected in 2020. He was happy for David Perdue to lose since Perdue’s cousin was the former governor and that faction still had some loyalty in the Georgia Dome. But there was no way he expected Loefler to lose after all the money she had donated and the fact he burned some bridges in appointing her over several more qualified candidates who brought their own voter support with them for the upcoming election. Georgians were confused by her appointment to that seat previously held by Johnny Isakson.

Instead the left double-crossed him and took both seats, leaving Loefler and Kemp both shocked at the result. There was nothing he could do since he was culpable of election shenanigans. They probably also dangled the 2024 GOP Presidential nomination in front of him to get him to participate. They were willing to promise and do anything to get rid of Trump.

The Conservative Treehouse thinks the GOPe has given up on DeSantis, and will switch to Kemp rather than Youngkin.

I don’t think it is necessarily anything nefarious .... It is absolutely 100% nefarious. Kemp was elected, the first time, because his primary opponent, Cagle, is even dirtier than he is. Then, of course, he faced Abrams the first time.

He was re-elected, believe it or not, because many folks thought he did such a wonderful job during the covid nonsense. Georgians had a chance to be rid of him by electing Perdue.

Many said they didn’t vote for Perdue because they thought:

1. Perdue would probably do the same things that Kemp is doing with regards to all the tax give-aways, that only a very small few support, to Hollywood, EV companies, and now the Chinese.

2. Perdue ran a lousy campaing. Let’s see. POS “Republican” selling out the people and the state is better than a guy that ran a “lousy” campaign. Got it.

If any Georgians have any insight, please share it here....I can only speak for myself, as one Georgian. If DeSantis thinks that cozying up to Kemp is going to help him in Georgia, with legitimate votes and not Dominion votes, he might want to drive around the state a little bit. Kemp used to be all over the state. Not anymore. Kemp is a disaster and many that voted for him, ones that used to brag about him, aren’t too happy.

Anyway, in Atlanta and parts of Fulton that are very Blue, DeSantis doesn’t have a chance and anymore than any other Republican. Same goes for the other Democrat heavy counties, of which, there are about 11 or 12.

But the rest of the state is as RED as it gets and it’s all PRES TRUMP. All day. Every day. Sad thing is, even in some of those RED counties, folks still elect RINOs, but Georgia does have some legit Conservatives.

So, IMHO, DeSantis is pissing in the wind cozying up to Kemp and his buddy Raffensberger. If nothing else, his secret meeting will only turn more people away from him, permanently.

**** All of that being said, don’t be surprised if DeSantis, running less than 10% in the polls, pulls off a win in Georgia. They won’t replace the machines, even though they can, so who knows what they’re up to. ****

Then why haven't we seen a new thread about the latest from the Trump Treehouse yet? People are slipping (or are tired of their threads being exposed as BS). Now that you mention it, haven't seen much from National Pulse or National File posted lately, either.

“The Conservative Treehouse thinks the GOPe has given up on DeSantis, and will switch to Kemp rather than Youngkin.”

I was thinking that they were plotting to keep Trump off of the GOP ballot in GA, at least, after his show trials conclude...of course they never consider, until later, what that means down-ballot, as in how it affects their own careers.

There is their political careers. Then there is their post-political careers.

That is why academic models of vote-maximizing politicians are naive.

They will leave politics eventually, and when they do their current donors will be their future employers.

The Left gave Kemp his seat because, they solidified two Democrats in the Senate. One with a Christian pastor that supports abortion and the other with a guy who’s never had a real job. He was a staffer for Hank Johnson, of Guam fame, and his parents are Dem donors and recognized names in the Georgia Dem party.

If you look at the big ticket issues...tax breaks for companies and industries...Kemp and Abrams are in complete agreement. Hollywood financially and publicly supported Abrams. Kemp still gives them $1.5billion a year in tax breaks and went into spasms when one state Senator dared submit legislation to lower it to a mere $900mil. ****on a side note, hopefully the strike will destroy the industry, shut down the studios they have in Georgia and force all the liberals that migrated to Georgia for the work, to move back to where they came from.

Kemp is selling out the state to an EV company, the deal being made 100% in secret and one that no one wants. Kemp grew up in the area that this project is being built. He knows the land owner that sold the family farm for between $22-35million. Absolutely ZERO infrastructure to support such a project as the location is rural and there were already locations, near Savannah, that does have the infrastructure that were ignored to make the deal in the current location. The local folks have sued over a tax break that Kemp gave, ordering the county to give up over $700million in county property taxes. And the state has fought the people in court.

https://reason.com/2023/04/12/georgia-is-shoveling-cash-into-a-failing-electric-vehicle-company/

Company is promising 7500 jobs to make its cars. Kia, down 85South, makes over 300k a year with 2700 employees. Someone is lying. But who cares? Kemp doesn’t, it isn’t his money he’s giving away.

And Kemp is giving an electric plane company money as well.

https://www.ocgnews.com/aircraft-manufacturing-plant-to-open-in-covington-ga-1000-jobs-coming/ ..... Anyone on here getting in an electric plane?

And I haven’t even mentioned the Rowen project.

LOL! You have the right of it. I’ve read everyone of those articles at Reason. The comments there get a bit ridiculous and the Google scam ads are frustrating, but the bickering of the children who frequent that site causes me to occassionally call them out on their stupidity.

As to Kemp, you are right. He is hell bent on selling us out to the Chinese before his time is up. He is destroying our state one small rural county at a time. Our property taxes have doubled since he was first elected. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a D.C. lobbyist after he passes on his torch to his hand-picked successor. Lt Gov Burt Jones? AG Chris Carr?

I’m not so sure about Jones. I would have thought that Miller was a RINO successor. But you might be right.

Kemp, was just in DC, attending a small, private get-together. Wonder if that was public knowledge. And I’m not sure who he met with. But, he did file paperwork with the FEC earlier, speculating that me might make a run for it.

It’s hard to believe that too many folks in the state actually voted for the guy the second time. Good Lord.

And let’s not forget he was the first and only, IIRC, that actually wanted the Afghan “refugees”, 97% of which did absolutely nothing to assist the US and are 100% unvetted.

Georgia could be such a wonderful state if it weren’t for the RINOs.

Kemp is deep state.

I live in GA... he started out like he would be OK, but he took a hate attitude toward Trump ..also..
He gave an empty seat that belonged to Collins, to an unknown woman.. all the radio talk and calls did not vhange his mind
And she lost that senate seat to a dem, and it waa the last hope to keep the senate.

Kemps daughter’s boyfriend worked for the woman he gave the senate seat to.. and he was killed when his car blew up on the highway. It was mysterious but no investigation.

Kemp is deep state!
