Ukraine: The CIA’s 75-year-old Proxy
Covert Action Magazine ^ | 9/12/22 | Gerald Sussman

It takes a musical artist to cut through the morass of propaganda to educate American mainstream media (MSM) about the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the roleof the United States in instigating that conflict for its own nefarious ends.

The MSM have constructed an undiluted narrative about “Putin’s War” that disguises America’s imperialist expansion into eastern Europe. It is utterly Orwellian in its effort to project onto Russia what the U.S. and its main imperial ally, the UK (which a British journalist deemed “America’s tugboat”), have been doing non-stop since 1945—and indeed for centuries.

Looking back, the U.S. under Truman began the policy of turning enemies (Germany, Japan) into friends and friends (the important war-time alliance with the USSR) into enemies. The CIA, established in 1947, was the main clandestine instrument of this policy, working closely with the neo-Nazi Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) to carry out acts to sabotage, divide and destabilize the Soviet state.

Perhaps you can read the whole thing and correct where he is wrong about the history so that we can all be better informed.

I must demand the same. Some of this cited history is new to me.

After about a half hour in validating nearly a dozen points made in the piece, I find ZERO inaccuracies. I will expend more time on this later.

Many comments register as gaslighting under the very strict definition of the word, particularly without citation, on par with nearly all prior threads critical of US involvement in uke-land.

CRITICS SHOULD CITE THE INACCURACIES WITH REFERENCES OR FOREVER BE LABELED TROLLING IGNORAMUS PROPAGANDISTS.

It was one thing to work to undermine the Soviet Union and free it from communism. We had the moral high ground.

But, in the past nine years, everything we've been doing in Ukraine and to Russia is nothing but imperialism on level with Spanish Conquistadors.

This is an excellent point. I cheered when Reagan stood over the corpse of the Soviet Union, and I also cheered on his Peace Dividend (which was quickly squashed by the Defense Industry). Today our Underminders are churning up Cold War embers to the delight of the ignorant and the government piggies at the MIC trough.

It’s not really a US security interest to say the Donbass has a lot of coal and minerals, and Russia itself has a vast swath of resources that we covet. But as we move to control their resources we should tip a hat to their security interests. That makes the USA no different than the plague of locusts. By that logic we should start making some military moves on Japan to gain control of their manufacturing sector.

“Putin invaded Ukraine in the Obama era and Biden era but not tin the Trump era. WHY?”

Excellent question! It’s a notable fact that there was peace under Trump.

Now to some speculation. As I recall, Trump was elected amid tensions between the Ukraine and Russia. Trump sold Dragon anti-tank missiles to the Ukraine. Democrats impeached Trump for doing so. Trump met with Putin. (Shocking to Democrats). Peace ensued.

The plan was for Hillary Clinton to be elected. The fix was in but failed. Had Hillary taken office, the war between Russia and the Ukraine would have ensued as planned. As it is, they had to wait four more years for war.

I can’t see that Trump is pulling the strings. He did stop war as President.

Is Putin pulling the strings? Perhaps he feared Trump but not Democrats. That would have made more sense with a communist Soviet Union and communist friendly Democrats, but that is a bygone era. Perhaps Putin fears NATO and America with communist friendly Democrats in charge. That makes more sense.

Perhaps the locus of international socialism, globalism if you prefer, is now in the US. A nationalistic Russia stands in the way. Perhaps the international left, led by Americans like Obama and Biden, are pulling the strings.

This magazine claims to be launched in 1978. I’m not sure if the Information Bulletin you cite is the same as this magazine?

“.....Trump is pulling the strings”...

The string Trump pulled was cheap gas, cheap oil, cheap fossil fuel. That stopped Putin.

The string Obama and Biden pull is expensive fossil fuel..and expensive electricity.

Rust Belt flees to GA because that is where the jobs are. (and TX, FL, etc). Not because they are red states. With both Ukraine and jobs we need to educate people to the cause and effect of policy.

The labels are used but mean nothing if not connect to successful policy.

The US, Russia, and Saudi Arabia are major producers and exporters of oil. Trump opened the spigots on US production and distribution. That had the effect of defunding such countries as Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Initiating war and terrorism are options best pursued when well financed. In effect, Trump defunded Putin’s war through plentiful and cheap oil. Democrats funded Putin’s war by restricting US production and distribution of oil and gas.

Why ask me that question? All I did was ask a person making a comment to point out where the author is not correct?

Of course I am glad we won the cold war and you should be ashamed for supporting the Globalists and the destruction of America.

What you support is facilitating our demise.

I believe you were asked not to post to me so I will say it one more time. Don’t post to me.

He blames Truman for North Korea’s invasion of the South, which was ordered by Kim Il Sung, and for the start of the Cold War which was started by Stalin’s blockade of Berlin.

The guys an idiot.

Reference?

I quote myself:

It's not like you couldn't read it the first time (more like 'ignored').

You’re going to seriously argue about and demand a cite for the Berlin Blockade or the North Korean invasion of South Korea?

Seriously? We are not talking about historical minutiae or obscure facts. This is basic history.

Next time pay attention in elementary school…

Your issue, it seems to me, may be unfamiliarity with the subject. History is poorly done in US education.

The modern standard short US history of the Cold War is “The Cold War: A New History”, John Lewis Gaddis

I highly recommend reading this first. Essential background for world affairs.

A lot in the article is the sort of stuff you would find from the Soviet POV or their fellow travellers and “agents of influence” in the US, like IF Stone.
