I’ve got the suspicion that “no swimming pools” is intended for something other than environmental concerns.
Like that CA town that tried to declare itself a mountain lion sanctuary to avoid residential construction densification.

I’ve been to a few Greek Islands and truly do not like disturbing the magnificent scenery with artificial anything.

Not having pools there is fine. Keeps some of the riffraff away.
More important, though, is the absence of cheap booze bars and nightclubs. Keeps the much larger rest of the riffraff away.
