Honoring Our Fallen, a non-profit that helps families of fallen American service members, covered the cost of having Gee’s body transported.
The family of a female Marine who was killed during the disasterous withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 was forced to pay $60,000 to have her body flown from California to Arlington to be buried.
Nicole Gee, 23, was one of 13 service members who were killed during a suicide blast at the Kabul Airport in 2021, per Daily Mail. There were also 170 Afghans reportedly killed in the attack that ISIS took responsibility for.
The attack took place on August 26, during an evacuation attempt near the US embassy.
Cory Mills, a Republican lawmaker and Army veteran, reportedly met with the families of the 13 service members who were lost in the attack. He was told one of the families was forced to pay $60,000 to have the body of a loved one moved to be buried.
Honoring Our Fallen, a non-profit that helps families of fallen American service members, covered the cost of having Gee’s body transported.
Her body was initially transported to her hometown of Roseville, California for a ceremony, but her family was then told they were financially responsible for moving her body to Arlington, which would be her final resting place, per the report.
Mills’ office noted that the defense department was allowed to decline to pay for the transportation of Gee’s body due to last year’s change to the National Defense Authorization Act, according to Fox News.
The change notes that the secretary of defense may provide a fallen soldier’s family “a commercial air travel use waiver for the transportation of deceased remains of [a] military member who dies inside a theater of combat operations.”
Mills said: “Typically, our fallen heroes are flown back home for a solemn service and then laid to a final rest at Arlington Cemetery with the utmost respect and honor.”
“It is an egregious injustice that grieving families were burdened to shoulder the financial strain of honoring their loved ones.”
She should have taken out a college loan-they would have reimbursed her.
When Charles DeGaulle demanded all US troops leave France, Lyndon Johnson told Dean Rusk, “Ask him about the cemeteries, Dean.”
I don’t believe this happened. They probably pay for one destination.
I won’t be surprised if Trump steps in to pay the bill.
From the article, “..He was told one of the families was forced to pay $60,000 to have the body of a loved one moved to be buried.”
I assume this was for a different service member. I can’t stand Biden but no where does the article show where it is administration policy that sets the cost of this service. Was this going to be done by charter? More details would help.
“Since WW1 we always brought our troops home, even when other countries like England decided to bury them overseas.”
The body was repatriated back to California.
Pure, unadulterated evil!
All of these bastards need to be fired with prejudice...
And this surprises anyone? Biden HATES military members. That is why he is destroying it with homos trannies and illegals.
Missing details:
When was the approval to inter the remains at Arlington, VA sent to the CACO and the family (it’s not automatic)?
Did the CACO advise the family that DoD was only responsible to transport the remains to the final burial spot, in this case, from Dover AFB to Arlington, VA?
What does the DoD and MCO say regarding the cost of transporting the deceased?
Just basic journalism.
Meanwhile Hunter Biden flies free of charge on government jets around the world doing his business with foreign countries.
You probably didn’t read the article. The body was flown to CA at the family’s request. The Army did what they were supposed to do. The crime here is charging that much to ship a body across the country. Where are the air freight companies?
I wouldn’t want my fallen son or daughter anywhere near DC.
That said, we shouldn't allow women to serve in the military. Okay, there's a place for them in the medical corps. And they can be nurses and doctors. That's what we did during World War II. Behind the front lines.
Service Members choose the disposition of their remains while they are still alive, typically early in their first enlistment. I know this because I chose aft. Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.
That’s why I get that cruise insurance. My mom had to be airlifted from a cruise ship to Ft. Lauderdale, fl in 2013. We’d have to pay 20G if not for that cheap insurance. Thank goodness my sister insisted she get it.
After he pays the bills from his many rally’s he stiffed the city with first. Some are fighting back by not letting him hold a rally until the previous bills are paid. Sounds reasonable.
Sorry, IMO, they should have paid to send the body to where she would be resting.
That soldiers home State must have a sorry Congressman.
I don’t understand the costs involved. Slip the casket in a box, strap it to a pallet, load it in a truck.
So, criss-crossing the country on some sort of tour? How many trips are they obligated to pay for? If the parents can’t figure their stuff out, that’s not on the rest of us.
