I read an article by a trainer for the internet videos. He got the squirrel to do various stunts and each day would devote some training to the ski stunt.
One day he had something else to do and cut short the session. The squirrel went to the ski and looked up plaintively, trying to get him to start the training session.
Pretty smart.
