The Long Island man whose tip proved key to nailing Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann wants to know why it took police more than a decade to follow up on his lead. “I gave them the exact description of the truck and the dude,” David Schaller said in his first interview since the accused serial killer’s arrest July 13. “I mean, come on! Why didn’t they use that?”
Schaller, who lived with Gilgo Beach victim Amber Lynn Costello before she disappeared in September 2010, told cops at the time that the man he believed to be her abductor looked like a hulking “ogre” with an “empty gaze” who drove a distinctive first-generation green Chevy Avalanche. Schaller said he scuffled with the creep when the man threatened Costello, a sex worker, who locked herself in their bathroom to protect herself from her enraged “client.”
On Sept. 2, 2010, she set out to meet the same customer and was never seen alive again.

But he has a point. Police could have taken this guy down in 2010.
If she hid in the bathroom from him, why would she have gone with him again?

This guy was on an hour long Nationally Broadcast TV show on the case over 10 years ago - and he told this very story - and they said he may have been the only one to ever see the LISK.
His story was well known back then.
It didn’t skip through the cracks, I can tell you that.

if your a sex worker , it kind of goes without saying ... you don't make very good life decisions
it's a shame they didn't get that guy sooner ... I would bet there are other victims out there.

They had a perfect description of the Killer and they had pinpointed the mocking calls to family members being made at the building the guy worked in.
If they had gone into that building and asked for a six foot five, six foot six guy in his forties with wavy hair - they’d have him.
They’d see he was driving the Avalanche described by the Roommate

Aw geez...in that video clip, they are hoisting up a large section (est. 12’x12’) of decking material off the ground and looking for buried stuff (e.g. bodies).
Reminds me of that journalist who turned in Jared from Subway to the FBI. She was taping disgusting and incriminating phone conversations and giving them to the FBI just hours later. It took them about 5 years to finally pull the plug on Jared.
I think they were getting off sexually listening to the stories he told about his encounters with small children overseas.
He even wanted the journalist to let him “use” her daughters. The FBI still did nothing for a long time.

We watched “Lost Girls” last night on Netflix. It is a fictional rendition of the murders, but based on facts, focusing mainly on the disappearance of Shannon Gilbert, the prostitute who ran from the perp, called 911 etc. Her body was found a year later in the same area as the others. The mother of this girl, zeroed in on the Doctor, David Haskett a political figure in the area (?) who claims Shannon ran to his house for help. He also used his home as a rescue for “Wayward girls”. He also made a strange call to the mother just days later. I wonder if he wasn’t involved and an accessory to these murders.
