The day he broke up with Trump was one of his toughest, Hossein Khorram says.
“I was heartbroken,” the Clyde Hill man told me. “I felt like I was betraying a friend.”
Khorram, 62, is one of the more gregarious behind-the-scenes players in local Republican politics. As a max donor and the finance chairman of “Trump Victory Washington State,” he helped raise money here for Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign.
Khorram, a Muslim, also made himself widely available to cheerfully parry critiques that Trump is anti-immigrant or racist. Khorram, an Eastside developer, continued to back Trump well past the catastrophe of the 2020 election and the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
As recently as February 2022, he donated $5,000 to a support group aimed at resurrecting Trump’s political career, a committee called “Make America Great Again, Again.” (This is the same fund that last week was revealed to have paid Melania Trump $155,000 for consulting on tableware and floral arrangements.)
But after Republicans bombed in the 2022 midterm elections, and especially after the criminal indictments started piling up for the ex-president this spring, Khorram says it hit him.
“Trump’s time has come and gone,” he says he realized.
In late May, Khorram maxed out instead to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign, new federal disclosure forms show. He also signed on to be DeSantis’ rainmaker in Washington state.
“I switched horses,” he told me. “In politics, it’s winner take all, loser take none. And the fact is for me: I no longer think Trump can win.”
Wow, they found one person who supports their narrative.
Not hoping to insult you, but do you think Biden got more votes than Hillary or Obama? Not a chance.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“The only name I will call you is “Pot Stirrer”. It’s just what you do.”
I’m convinced that he actually works for Trump and is trolling us by insulting Trump...in other words, solidifying our support of Trump even more (not that it’s necessary, though).
I’m kinda done with ‘unifying.’
I voted for Juan McCain.
I voted for Rmoney.
I voted for the Shrub.
I voted for GHWB.
Hell, I even voted for bobdull.
No more.
Washington State? WHO cares! Hopelessly BLUE.
An Iranian refugee. It is too bad that first generation Americans like this clown, George Soros and others do not respect what should be a rule: Observe and keep your mouth shut. Let your kids do the talking.
And Biden got more votes than Clinton. Everybody got more votes. There was cheating in key states, but Trump was not as popular as many supporters think he was. He’s also not doing things now that will win voters to his side next time.
So the point of this story is that Trump is losing the muzzie vote and the muzzies want DeSantis instead?
Yeah. I think that is legit.
The walls are closing in. This is the tipping point.
How big is your paycheck from DeSantis and the RNC Reno? GOPe hacks are despicable.
Keep in mind that this switcheroo is happening in WASHINGTON STATE where the probability of of a GOP Presidential Candidate winning is zero.
You won't shake the belief of a Trump supporter. They become stronger in their convictions every time the deep state attacks Trump because Trump supporters identify with him. And, Trump gains supporters every time they attack him because people start to realize that what the deep state is doing to Trump, they could do to anybody.
Personally, I don't think Trump will ever take the white house again because the deep state will kill him first. But, that won't stop me from voting for him.
We are in the midst of a great political war against a Democrat/Fascist take over of the USA and you want us to ditch our Gen. Patton?
So you're trying to tell us devote for DeSantis because then the GOP won't help the communists steal the vote from us? You are a craptastic salesman and f**k the GOP.
> Trump’s behavior and history is losing supporters and voters. <
I must agree with that. I’m seeing it with my conservative friends and relatives.
But here’s the thing. At some point in the process, Republicans have to realize that one person has got the GOP nomination clinched. At that point it’s time to quit fussing, and rally around the presumptive nominee. Are we at that point now? I think so.
So here’s what I’m hoping for. I’m hoping for other GOP leaders to quit throwing mud at Trump, and focus on the Democrats. I’m also hoping for Trump to tone things down a bit. Those middle-of-the-road voters will be the key to the next election.
Unfortunately, I doubt if either will happen. So 2024 looks good for the Democrats. (And I haven’t even mentioned the steal.)
Yeah, how much help could he have been when Washington voted Dem by a whole lot in both 2016 and 2020. Clinton and Biden both easily won the state.
“As I’ve wrote in other threads, show me one new person to back Trump. No one has been able to. ”
__________
Most apparently don’t care what you think.
So Trump cheated to get millions more votes in 2020 than in 2016?
Is that what Never Trumpers have to believe in seeing Trump got millions more to vote for him in 2020?
That’s a flimsy branch to crawl onto..
Don’t you have the clot shot to push?
