Conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has caught up to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a first national poll, a surprising tie as both are preparing to join in 2024’s first primary debate next month.
In the survey of likely Republican primary voters, Ramaswamy and DeSantis are tied at 12%, with former President Donald Trump continuing to dominate at 48%.
“Ramaswamy outperformed six other hopefuls by more than double, marking a significant surprise in this poll,” said pollster Doug Kaplan.

Very impressive. I can therefore understand why you might see a JAG officer as barely military. But, what DeSantis did is by volunteering and serving as he did, is still more admirable than Trump's multiple draft deferments, is it not? At least DeSantis could handle basic training?
I think it is a clear lesson to the old-timer establishment republicans that the pre-Trump style of campaigning and messaging does not connect with the voter anymore.
