Ron DeSantis says he might get a ‘sublease’ in South Carolina for presidential bid

'Maybe my wife and I will get a little sublease somewhere and bring the kids and just kind of enjoy.' Those with short-term rentals in South Carolina shouldn’t be surprised to hear from Florida’s Governor. He may be looking for a crash pad.

During a press conference in the Columbia area, Ron DeSantis said he might get a “sublease” so he can spend more time in the Palmetto State chasing votes in the state’s Presidential Primary.

“Maybe my wife and I will get a little sublease somewhere and bring the kids and just kind of enjoy,” DeSantis said, promising that Palmetto State Republicans would see “a lot of us — or a lot of me, at least.”

DeSantis, who has been largely absent from Florida in recent weeks since launching his presidential campaign, told the audience that South Carolina voters would respond to his record of accomplishment in the Sunshine State.

“I also think that you have a lot of folks in South Carolina who want to see results. They want to see you be able to stand up, hold your ground and fight back against the people that are destroying this country. Nobody has done that more than me with what we’ve done in Florida since I’ve been Governor,” DeSantis said.

“I mean, you want to talk about ‘woke,’ we’ve beat the ‘woke’ and the schools and the corporations and the bureaucracy all across the board,” he added. “We fight and we win and I think we’re in a situation here where voters are sick of the excuses, they’re sick of the sloganeering and they want to see a President go in there.”

SC is Trump country. NH is not fertile ground either. High water mark in the low double digits in Iowa, and all downhill from there.

Is the Lieutenant Gov taking over while he campaigns, or is State Gov’t on auto pilot until he loses the Presidential Primary.

I don’t believe Florida voters will be too pleased with this.

Considering how far underwater his campaign is, leasing a sub might be a good investment. Just don’t go as deep as the Titan did.

Well sure, why not Ron. You made it so you could continue to get a paycheck as Governor instead of having to resign to run, while you flit around the country on your wannabe Presidential campaign. Enjoy your holiday on the back of Florida’s taxpayers. I’m sure they are very grateful.

Last year, DeSantis called a special session of the Florida legislature to deal with the homeowner’s insurance problems in Florida. A year later, things have gotten worse, but no special session. DeSantis has moved on. Florida is no longer on his list of top priorities. Florida was merely a stepping stone to bigger things for DeSantis.

He needs an alternate address in case Trump picks him as his running mate.

We are absolutely NOT! Pizzed off big time! My neighbor who was a huge fan of his told me she can’t stand the sight of him anymore.

That’s a canard. A constitution myth.

I don’t live in Florida-I’ll ask my relatives there what they think-but since DeSantis is the gov, it is now hurricane season-and there are major problems with property insurers, I don’t see how it can be a good idea for the gov to be leasing a place to stay in another state with all that going on...

* * *

That’s right, mbrfl.

And my bet is he’s all in it for the money. He knew from the get-go he had zero chance of beating Trump. But he sees fame and dollars signs in his eyes.

If he gains some of the pounds he recently lost, maybe he can turn into another Christy Creme commentator — another has-been governor turned henchman for the RINOs, Bushies, Paul Ryans, and Judas Pences.

MAGA be damned: that’s just a slogan for him. A big career opportunity for Ron. And it’s lucrative!

Absolutely. You can be sure DeSantis has a lot of pent-up anger towards Trump for having been called out by him. In two years, once his career in politics ends, I could definitely see him getting a nice fat paycheck from one of the alphabet networks and throwing spitballs at Trump from the sidelines.
