Back in the day I worked soe underground nuke tests in Nevada. On a rare occasion protestors got to the tunnel entrance (usually security ran them ragged all over the desert until they gave up). They would chin themselves to stuff. If it was heavy machinery or something large the welders would cut them free. But sometimes it was something that weighed 100 or so pounds. That we would load on the truck with them and dump them on the highway with it still attached.

What ever happened to the protestors that used to camp out at the Mercury exit on U.S. 95? I used to drive that stretch fairly often in the 80s and 90s, and there always seemed to be some scruffy losers huddled alongside the road there. Then I didn’t go up that way for some years, and the next time I did, they were gone.
