Vanguardism, detailed by Lenin his 1902 essay “What Is To Be Done.” Basically it’s the view that the oppressed are too crushed down by their oppression to realize that they’re oppressed, so they must be led by a “vanguard” of enlightened intellectuals who understand things
From the Wiki, citing Marxists.org.: "Class political consciousness can be brought to the workers only from without; that is, only from outside the economic struggle, from outside the sphere of relations between workers and employers. The sphere from which alone it is possible to obtain this knowledge is the sphere of relationships (of all classes and strata) to the state and the government, the sphere of the interrelations between all classes."
I find it interesting from more than a century later that there is a reading of this, quite Obama-like. "... from outside the economic struggle" in essentially within "the state and the government" suggests what we see these days from the Democrats, a continual stoking of the potential and real fires they, not "the workers," so stoke. Identity politics in all its forms. The Clintons. Them Obamas. The Bidens. And so on. All the while they amass for themselves while setting class struggles on fire.
I am somewhat amused that the Wiki also notes: "Lenin states that Karl Marx and Engels themselves, the very founders of modern scientific socialism, belonged to this bourgeois intelligentsia."
As did ultimately "bourgeois" Lenin, when one considers the pamphleteering and more.

As has obviously "bourgeois" Soros, another in what Lenin would tell us belongs to "bourgeois intelligentsia."

When one thinks further through this, so many of the corruptocrats leaving office get book deals, and book deals and more book deals now worth "bourgeois intelligentsia" millions.
So the whole thing reduces down to succeeding generations of "vanguard," all producing nothing but words and books and books and words and speeches aplenty -- to set fires in society and all for money. Big bucks now....
