Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday elicited boos at a major Iowa conservative gathering as he made the case for strong U.S. support for Ukraine.

Pence sat down with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson for an event hosted by the Family Leader, and the two men clashed over the former vice president’s staunch support for U.S. assistance for Ukraine in its war against invading Russian forces.

If that’s true, then why didn’t Bush and Cheney secure our border when they were in the Middle East?

He very adamantly said that problems faced by Americans are not his concern.

When Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Lindsey Graham are all on the same side of an issue that has major consequences for America, you know damn well that American taxpayers are getting screwed in a big way.

I think Pence had the Constitutional authority to act and chose not to do so. Does Pence think that Democrats have ever stolen an election? If not, where has he been?

“Tucker: “Every city in America has become worse over the past few years... Your concern is that Ukraine don’t have enough tanks... Where’s the concern for America in that?”

Pence: “That’s not my concern.” “

An actually truthful statement of priorities from the UniParty.

A Kinsey gaffe.

.
Pence actually wants to Cut payments to US Social Security Retirees, while saying he wants to send even money to Ukraine.

How does one say that with a straight face?

He’s beholden - and I guess this indicates what the Deep State wants to do.

Whatever he meant it was an incredibly stupid comment. Pence just isn’t that bright.

Pence: “I’ve heard the routine before, and that’s not my concern. I’m running for president of the U.S. because I think this country is in a lot of trouble. I think Biden as weakened America at home and abroad. And as President of the U.S., we’re going to restore law and order in our cities. We’re going to secure our border. We’re going to get this economy moving again. And we’re going to make sure that we have men and women on our courts at every level that will stand for the right to life and to defend all the God given liberties enshrined in our Constitution. Anybody that says we can’t be the leader of the free world, and solve our problems at home has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth. We can do both.”

My opinion is that he feels we can best protect the U.S. by helping Ukraine defeat Russia. That he’s putting the U.S. first by doing that. I see pros and cons with both sides of the Ukraine issue, so I don’t have a huge problem with what he said.

Stick a fork in ‘em. He’s done. That may be a new record. Gary Hart? Or Dukakis.

Asked point blank if he would be favor the death penalty, if a burglar raped and killed his wife. LOL.

He went off on some long dissembling intellectual word salad. Oops

I would not have a problem with his rationale, if I believed the basic story that he is telling were true.

As I recall, Trump came to office, sold Dragon anti-tank missiles to the Ukraine, met Putin, and peace ensued. I think the war was scheduled to start after the election of Hillary Clinton. Trump’s election threw a monkey-wrench in the plans. These plans resumed with the election of Biden.

Putin’s story is that Nato expansion to include the Ukraine is a threat to Russia. The old Soviet Union always made such excuses. They could never have enough buffer states. There was Russia and 14 other Soviet states, plus 7 Warsaw Pact states. Now it’s just Russia, and Putin may feel threatened.

Democrats tend to pile on. Reagan took down the evil empire, despite the Democrats. Now Democrats can steal glory by defeating a Russia that does not compare to the Soviet Union either in evil or power.

As it is no concern of ALL, of the war cheerleaders that have infected this site for the past year and a half.

Pence might be their newest “hero” they can roll out at will.

Whatever he meant will not be the way it is portrayed. Take it out of context, instead.

People only have the attention span of a goldfish these days, so that’s all they will play, and that’s all they will remember.

“I’ve heard the routine before“

Yeah, I’ve heard a few routines before myself. “We’ll secure the border”.

Uh-huh.

First, giving Pence the benefit of the doubt, Carslon was tying domestic and international issues together, and that doesn't work in politics. When that happens, the side getting moralistic about consistency gets paralyzed while the other making compromises gets ahead. Politics is the art of the possible, not the ideal.

Second, I am not giving Pence the benefit of the doubt. His answer was terrible.

There is a quote to the effect that:

There are two parties and only two parties: the evil party and the stupid party. Sometimes they pass legislation that is both evil and stupid. In this town, that’s called bipartisanship.

It’s too long for a soundbite and though I usually prefer politicians to give a thorough explanation (which is why I like Vivek, though I am not saying I’ll vote for him) in this case all Pence did was rattle off a list of platitudes.

State the problems, and propose your solutions. If I agree, you win my vote.

...."Your concern is that Ukraine don't [sic] have enough tanks"... "That's not my concern".

I think anyone with an IQ above room temperature or who didn't have an axe to grind would understand it that way.
