Hoping that everyone is ready for the new week ahead... hoping that we see more sun than clouds for the next few days, before the rains come in...

Absent the slight bend to the right, the Par 4 Hole 5 looked like another ‘straight ahead’ driving hole... turned out to be true... a great shot off the tee gave me the opportunity to get on in two with a moderately long iron shot from the fairway... another ‘readable’ green allowed me to sink a fairly long putt for the Birdie...

Drizzle off and on overnight cleared partly to sparsely scattered morning showers, dispersing around noon to sunny skies and highs in the mid 60’s.

I happened to have an eye open at about 3am and heard my automatic sprinkler system run. One more detail to attend to before further dampness sets in.

OK. To golf!

Straighter and longer than the 4th hole, the 5th was far less vexing. A good drive fed into a second shot from mid-fairway that set me up for a short chip on that, with an added touch of mustard, went the distance to the cup for a Birdie.

I claim back a notch and go to the 6th at 1 under par with 19 strokes thus far this round.

It was such a short, cute little thing — I just HAD to go play in the sand. Drove to the right, and — POOF! Wedged out like lobbing a dead cat. I got out but that was about all I got. It was a long putt, and I thought I had it, but it snuck past on the left forcing the tap-in for a Bogey.

That puts me back at even par as we move to the 7th, where I hope to pick up a stroke; not have one.
